I brought my family here last night and the food was so delicious, beautiful decor and friendly staff, not many resteraunts are worth visiting anymore as they don't care about the customer but this place is lovely.

We visited the Old Street Restaurant in July but still remember the perfect experience we’ve had! The climate and warmth of the interior, great food and exceptional service - we’re sending our regards and special thanks to David who took care of us :) Everything was so good that I simply forgot to take photos - but let me post some pictures at least of coffee and desserts 🌟 PS. Amazing cocktails and desserts! 😋🍹

We booked Old Street in Malahide for an early dinner at 6:15 with my son and uncle. It was our first time there and, despite arriving a little early, the place was already hopping.
Our table was ready and set for the three kings to dine.
I’m usually fairly open-minded when trying somewhere for the first time, but within about thirty seconds Old Street was already off to a good start. The staff were lovely and immediately accommodating with my uncle, offering to help him with his walker and making sure he was comfortable.
Then I spotted the dry ager tucked away in the corner.
Inside were some beautiful cuts of beef and what looked like an absolutely enormous halibut.
I’m not going to lie. I got a little excited.
We sat down and immediately began studying the menu. My son asked me for a few recommendations and my uncle, behaving like someone cheating during an exam, listened carefully and then ordered exactly the same thing.
Almost.
My son ordered his 10oz ribeye properly. My uncle wanted his cremated.
Absolute sacrilege.
For starters, I wanted to try something a little different and went for the beef fillet tataki with shiitake purée and pickled quail eggs. The lads both ordered the sautéed butterflied gambas.
When the starters arrived they were almost too beautiful to eat.
Almost.
The tataki was superb and the shiitake purée was unreal. Naturally, being a responsible father, I then had to tax my son and steal one of his gambas for quality-control purposes.
Good God.
They were delicious and cooked perfectly. Touch them with the knife and fork and the garlic butter came oozing out. The stuff of dreams.
Then came the main event.
I had, of course, ordered the 32oz tomahawk. Apparently this is designed for two people.
Nonsense.
I took my time with it and eventually left behind little more than the bone and a tiny bit of fat. Meanwhile the lads demolished their two 10oz ribeyes, including my uncle’s, which had sadly been subjected to considerably more heat than any respectable piece of beef deserves.
My uncle was then kind enough to help me finish my salad.
Very generous of him.
After consuming a “tomahawk for two” there was obviously no possibility whatsoever that I could eat dessert.
And then they brought out the dessert platter.
This was unfair.
My son sensibly tapped out. My uncle and I, however, are veterans. We looked at the selection in front of us, accepted that the battle was not yet over and ordered two desserts.
Both were absolutely scrumptious and disappeared with a coffee while my son presumably wondered how either of us was still alive.
Old Street was genuinely excellent. Great food, lovely staff, a fantastic atmosphere and the kind of service that makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk through the door.
Whether it’s a lads’ dinner, date night with the missus or a bigger celebration, this place has it all. There’s also a serious wine selection if you fancy making a proper evening of it.
We had a brilliant time from start to finish.
Thanks for having us. We’ll definitely be back.

Brilliant family celebration we had the neighbourhood menu which was perfect for eating with a toddler. The restaurant were flexible with accommodating us, and were so kind to our toddler involving him in the experience. The baby bowl was perfect so were the crayons and colouring, the adult food was excellent with good portion sizes. Great wine list. Highly recommend.

Ate as part of a celebration of 8 adults and five children. The menu is limited and over priced for what it offers. For example a filet of steak with one unpeeled carrot and one stalk of a green asparagus with a portion of fries, steamed cod with a very small serving of cod, ravioli as main on a small plate which looked more like a starter. The prices they charge do not justify it. Even before the settling down with some of the party running twenty minutes late the manager made an announcement to the table to order quickly before a certain time or else you will wait a long time. Not good customer service. After ordering before that certain time and starters finished the dishes were left on the table 30 minutes after everyone was finished with the mains coming a further 15 minutes later. Some people may love the dessert choice others may hate it but it seems quite lazy for a restaurant that charges so much. Wine menu is very expensive for what is offered. The atmosphere in the restaurant is good if you have kids.
Overall it is a middle if the road restaurant not doing anything spectacular in terms of food.

What an absolute gem of a restaurant in the heart of Malahide. From the moment you enter you are met with fantastic service from the most friendly, pleasant staff. Food is sublime - amazing quality and attention to detail. Incredible value to be had if you can make the early bird. I have recommended this restaurant to six people already. I can't wait to go back. Thanks for a super evening 🥂
