04/03/2026: I visited Darnley Lodge Hotel and had a very pleasant experience. The hotel is located in the historic center of Athboy and has a traditional Irish charm, combining history and comfort in a quiet and welcoming atmosphere. The building has great local historical importance, as it originally served as the office of the Darnley family, who played a significant role in the region since the 18th century. The restaurant caught my attention because the food was delicious, with a very homemade taste and satisfying portions. There is a variety of menu options for different times of the day, including vegetarian and vegan choices, as well as a friendly bar and lounge often visited by locals and guests. The location is also interesting for history lovers, as there are remains of Athboy’s medieval town walls nearby, dating back to the 14th century. I recommend it for anyone looking for a simple, comfortable place with the true atmosphere of the Irish countryside.

08/02/2026: Former Athboy resident here. Revisited for a meal for the first time in many years. Absolutely top knotch. Food is top tier restaurant quality level, service is frequent and professional. Nothing is an issue, portion sizes big and very pleasant/ accommodating servers who clearly value your custom and want you back. Prices reasonable too. Highy recommend.
