The restaurant is top class! We didn't expect such cuisine in Balina (don't get me wrong, dear Bali residents). If you're looking for creative, hand-crafted cuisine that's very good, you've come to the right place! It's not for nothing that the operators (from Austria and Germany) have received several awards for their creative dishes. All ingredients fresh and regional. The service friendly and quick. If you are in Balina, you must visit the Poacher! The restaurant is top class! We would not have expected such cuisine in Balina (don't get me wrong, dear Balinese). If you're looking for creative and handcrafted cuisine, you'll hit the jackpot here! It's not for nothing that the owners (from Austria and Germany) have already won several awards for their creative dishes. All ingredients are fresh and regional. The service is friendly and fast. If you are in Balina, you must visit the Poacher!

Visited with a group of friends, not all easily pleased, and not a single word of complaint. Precisely the opposite! The rabbit & prawn starter came in for particular praise!!

Best food in Ballina maybe all of Ireland!

My son and I are on an 8 day golf trip and spent several nights in Ballina. We found Poachers to be our best dining experience in Ireland. The owners - Host and Chef - a couple from Germany and Austria have created a fabulous restaurant. We started with the Croquette’s and both had the Braised Beef (absolutely fabulous flavor and cooked to perfection). We enjoyed the meal with a nice Malbec and finished with cheesecake and a puffed pastry filled with ice cream! Everything was superb. We highly recommend this restaurant!!

The food was absolutely delicious. It was above and beyond our expectations and very good value. Good service as well. An absolute gem of a find on our trip to Ballina.

The food in this restaurant is of an extraordinary quality. We were suspicious that the menu was overly ambitious but as we found out - not in the slightest! Service was also superb. Tremendous value. The wine list though small is well chosen and excellent value. We had the pleasure of meeting Yvonne the head chef and she was so self effacing, relaxed and affable it was hard to believe she was at the helm of such a wonderful kitchen. This restaurant is, without question deserving of much more prestigious awards than “best in Connaught”. Rather than go through the detail of the exquisite menu come and try it for yourself!
