We stopped here on the way to the ferry and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious. We had a starter and main course and all of our dishes were excellent. This pub offers exceptional value for money, whoever is in the kitchen knows what they are doing. The service staff were also lovely and attentive. Will definitely return.

Superb food & fantastic value. 2 courses (full portion size) for €25 evening meal. You can't be at that. Was booked out for late sitting & could only get a 5pm booking. Now I know why. DELISH😋

Visited The Poachers last night for the first time in a few years. Had a really positive experience. Previously we found the portions small but last night, our food was delicious, portions were perfect size and the presentation was great. There was a very pleasant atmosphere and staff were very efficient. The two course option for 25 euro is great value. I had the fish and chips and meringue roulade, both were delicious. Will definitely be back.

Was recommended this restaurant by a local resident but unfortunately did not live up to our expectations and was really let down by the service staff who were unfriendly and tried to overcharge us. One of the staff members attended to us and was very aloof and unfriendly which took away from the relaxed atmosphere of the place and tainted the experience. We chose meals from the ‘2 courses for €25’ menu. However mine was excluded from the offer because I ordered my dishes separately (a main and then dessert afterwards) instead of ordering both at the start. On top of this they charged my partner’s more expensive main (instead of my main) and my dessert individually. The situation was dealt with poorly and they really pushed back when we queried the bill. Overall, very poor service and disappointing experience. The bathrooms were also grimy which was also off putting. A real shame because the food was excellent but the only enjoyable part of the experience. Would not recommend, plenty of other options in the area I’d look at for again

Cute local place that was busy but they were happy to put me at the bar to eat since I was on my own. Got a very delicious vegetable soup but it had some twiggy bits of rosemary and sage in it that I struggled with a little bit got over because it was so delicious. Then the seafood pie, mashed potatoes topped with a creamy, leeky sauce and big chunks of seafood topped with crisped breadcrumbs. Yum. The soup filled me up so I was devastated to leave some of the potatoes behind. So tasty. Would recommend.

Stopped here for lunch o way home from Cork for lunch. Got the 2 course for 25euro. Chowder & mixed fish main. Delicious and satisfying. Recommended3

Best meal so far this year. I had the steak medium rare. The onion and mushroom with it were incredible. I brought my Spanish in laws who are difficult to please and the first bite he took of the steak he almost fell off his chair with delight. Can’t wait to go back. Hats off to the chef
