Porter House in Westport

2 years since I visited that pub and I still think about it weekly. I had such a good time there with the live music.

Traditional pub of the year 2025 – that says it all... Daily live music, great atmosphere, lots of locals in the off-season – highly recommended!

Great pub and terrific Irish music. Maybe you can catch the banjo players some night. They are terrific.

A fantastic atmosphere in this traditional pub with live music every night (see website). Lots of regulars and a few tourists. Impeccable service! Children welcome until 9 pm 👍

This was the only place we saw that had early (~6:30pm) music on a Thursday in January. The music wasn't at all traditional Irish, but the crowd was having a great time and the singer was eager and enthusiastic. The drinks are reasonable and the bar is lovely. There were plenty of locals and they seemed to love the place, and we had several good chats with lovely people.

The staff in Porterhouse displayed the utmost hospitality! Jerry and Ciaran were specifically amazing. As a group of five women, we felt particularly safe and looked after when a man accosted us in the pub. Jerry and Ciaran made sure that the situation was dealt with accordingly and looked after us for the whole night. The music was amazing and the vibe was so welcoming and enjoyable! I would recommend to anyone visiting Westport.

I’m from the states to see a different type of pub is different from ours! It’s beautiful and great way to see locals. Also there’s music!

Walking past we heard music in so we went in for a drink. Great atmosphere, friendly people and of course good Guinness. A wonderful taste of Irish pub culture.

Best and most authentic pub in Ireland, I have ever seen. Worth a longer way.
