It's definitely a must-go place even you are not drinking. The history makes the beer taste better. I wish I could stop there longer to have a cup of authentic Irish whiskey.

Great name! I'm not biased... however it is packed from open to close. That said even with limited space and short staffed this place went above and beyond to accommodate people coming in. Great irish welcome.

Great place to hang and see what it's all about. Nice to visit and have a pint to feel apart of history. Friendly barkeep and great prices.

06/06/2026: Been wanting to visit this place for a while as I had many good recommendations. I was glad that I finally was near Athlone, and could make it happen. I love the ambiance! Tables apart enough so everyone has enough space and privacy! The service was fantastic, they couldn't do enough for us! Now, the food was delicious! The starters were so delicately composed. The presentation, the taste & texture were mastered to perfection! The meat was so tender both the lamb and the steak. Main came with delicious sides of seasonal vegetables & baked potatoes. Overall we had a great dinner at Thyme & I highly recommend to make a reservation of you are in the area!

14/06/2026: Food was delicious, however we were shoved beside a large table where I couldn't hear the person across from me. Possibly, due to the table felt ignored by waitstaff But the food was very good.
12/06/2026: Food was average. Ambience was nice but they made us sit at the back even though there were plenty space in the main dining room, just because we didn’t have a booking. I wouldn’t recommend going without a reservation. Pizza was just alright. The main pasta dish had chicken which was on the border of going bad.
