Sheridan’s Cheesemongers in Galway is hands-down one of the finest cheese stores we’ve ever visited, anywhere in the world. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of character—a true haven for anyone who loves exceptional food. We were helped by a young man with curly hair (wish we’d caught his name!), and honestly, he made our experience unforgettable. His patience was incredible—he took the time to listen to exactly what we were looking for, answered all our questions, and never once made us feel rushed. His knowledge of the cheeses was unparalleled, and his recommendations were spot-on, from the more familiar varieties to the lesser-known gems. On top of that, he was just an absolute delight—so kind, approachable, and genuinely passionate about what he does. It was clear he truly enjoys helping customers discover new flavors, and his warmth made us feel like we were chatting with a friend, not just a shop assistant. If there’s an Employee of the Month at Sheridan’s, we absolutely recommend him! One of the absolute highlights was finding Cáis na Tíre, an extraordinary cheese produced in Tipperary. We’ve tried cheeses all over Europe and beyond, and this one genuinely stands out as one of the best we've ever had—rich, complex, and beautifully balanced. The shop itself is full of carefully curated selections—each one clearly chosen with love and expertise. It’s a place where you could easily lose track of time, happily tasting, learning, and chatting. We walked away with full bags, happy hearts, and the certainty that we’ll return every time we’re in Galway. Sheridan’s isn’t just a shop—it’s an experience. Don’t miss it.

Delicious cheeses at fair prices. The owners were delightful: they not only let us taste different types of cheese, but also gave us lots of tips for visiting the city. The goat cheeses are truly excellent!

Walk in the door and,,,,,heavenly aromas permeate the world with a complexity that will make you feel good. The diversity of products available is not seen in any of the many countries that I have visited . The staff is sensitive to whether you are a looky Lou type or a cheese affectionado and will helpfully guide you along the path. Worth stepping in. Added bonus ,,, there is an accompanying wine and cheese bar upstairs with cheese plate and appropriate wine accompaniments

The friendliest store owners who gave us many recommendations. We got a cheddar and a goat cheese and walked and ate them around Galway. The cheese was delicious. We would visit again!

Parada aquí para conseguir provisiones para un viaje a Inishmore (Islas Aran) . Muy amable quesero nos preguntó lo que nos gustó y nos hizo grandes recomendaciones, ofreciendo muestras a medida que pasaba por las opciones. Tomamos nuestras decisiones, y él estaba feliz de mantenerlos refrigerados mientras explorábamos la ciudad. Recogimos nuestras cosas más tarde, y decidimos probar el bar de vinos de arriba, donde podíamos pedir una tabla de quesos junto con probar un poco de vino. Cogimos una botella para acompañar nuestros quesos, y con un poco de fruta del Spar cerca nos abastecieron completamente para un picnic en la isla al día siguiente. Gran tienda, gran selección, y gente muy cálida y servicial. Un punto culminante de nuestra visita a Galway.
