Sheridans Cheesemongers in Galway

We stopped into Sheridan’s just for a glass of wine and ended up staying much longer than we planned. The wine bar is upstairs and has a really cozy, relaxed feel, with plenty of bottles to choose from along the wall as well as a great selection on the menu. We didn’t eat, but the food coming out to the other tables looked fantastic. What really made the experience, though, was the atmosphere. There were only four or so other tables when we were there, and the staff made everyone feel so welcome that before long, people at different tables were all chatting with each other. It felt less like sitting in a wine bar and more like being at a really good gathering. Special shoutout to Roland, who was warm, engaging and clearly knows his wine. He gave us a few different wines to taste and was just genuinely fun to talk to. A great little find in Galway. We went upstairs looking for a glass of wine and left feeling like we’d spent the afternoon with friends.

If you love cheese and are passing through Galway, it would be a shame not to visit Sheridans! We went to the shop and received excellent advice from the young man who served us. He took his time, yet was quick and efficient, to let us taste several cheeses. We left with a lovely selection and the exact quantities we wanted.

A fantastic shop with incredibly friendly staff. We sat down on the first floor and expressed our wish to try only Irish cheeses, and they immediately put together a wonderful selection for us and explained everything. Highly recommended for cheese lovers!

What a treasure. Located off the tourist beaten path. Has an incredible selection of both Iris and international cheeses. Also has a great wine bar upstairs with cheese platters to sample. Great and knowledgeable service.

Loved Sheridans. Expert advice and plenty of amazing local cheese. Also sell crackers and meat products like salami so you can buy everything for a great aperitif. You can taste plenty of cheeses before you buy. Very reasonably priced. For the non-english speakers : there was a French student working there this summer so you can even ask questions in French if need be. Definitely recommend this place, very central too
