Absolutely brilliant visit for lunch which made us return the next day for breakfast. Value for money outstanding. Food was gorgeous, service was fantastic. I highly recommend.

Cheap, brilliant food, nice staff, long wait but other than that it was beautiful, atmosphere is lovely and quiet and some nice little paintings along the walls.

I’ll start with the main issue that needs fixing: the fizzy drinks. On two different occasions during our trip, the soft drinks tasted strange and off not right at all. It was noticeable enough that we avoided ordering them again on our final visit.
While we were there that last time, I overheard another customer complaining to staff about the exact same problem with the taste of their drink that we had! The server offered them a different option like 7-Up instead, which made it clear this isn’t an isolated incident. This really needs to be addressed as a priority because it’s the one thing that puts a dampener on the experience.
Having said that, the food at Sherwood inn is genuinely strong and I would happily recommend the place. My late nan used to eat here regularly when she was alive it was one of her go-to spots and I can see why. The southern fried chicken with mash and gravy is lovely and comforting, the other main dishes we tried were all decent, and the breakfast was surprisingly very high quality.
You could really see the care and freshness in it, which stands out.
Portion sizes are reasonable and satisfying without being excessive, and the overall value for money is very good. For a party of four, you can comfortably eat for around €50, or up to €75–€90 if you go a bit bigger, which feels fair and reasonable for what you get in terms of quality and quantity. The service was friendly and efficient as well.
All in all, delivers a reliable and tasty meal with decent prices and good standards across the board. I’m happy to give it 4 stars it would be a clear 5 if the drinks situation was sorted.
Hopefully they fix that soon because I’d love to return without any hesitation next time. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you stick to the food and maybe opt for alternative drinks for now.

Good diner type food, nothing fancy. It has changed from years ago but is still nice. Had to take off one star because the staff are having a plate fight apparently, no need to slam plates so loud. Just dont sit where they bring out the food and its just about bearable
