Silken Thomas, menu in Kildare

Great place to eat! I have been to Silken Thomas several times with friends and recently my fiancée. Food is always delicious. Steaks are amazing. I ordered medium rare and it was perfectly cooked. My fiancée ordered his rare and said it’s the best steak he ever had. Fries were fluffy and crispy. Also ordered spicy chicken wings with blue cheese sauce and desserts and can warmly recommend everything. Service and the staff is always lovely and super helpful if you need recommendations. We were looked after by a dark haired older lady and she was super. On weekdays you barely have to wait for the food. Very big venue and lots of tables so great for a couple or even bigger parties.

Food was mediocre, service was a little chaotic

Perfect getaway! We booked an overnight stay just after Christmas, looking for a night away with no kids, no in-laws... just the two of us. After searching nearby boutique hotels and reading the reviews, we chose Silken Thomas for one night once the Christmas madness had passed. It turned out to be the perfect escape from home. The hotel is only a 10-minute walk from Kildare Village, which was ideal for a wander and some post-Christmas sales, and a great chance to relax, chill, and recharge. Our room was clean, spacious, and warm. The only downside was that it faced the main road, so on a typical Saturday night you could hear the street noise...cars, horns, and the general bustle. Next time, we’ll definitely request a rear-facing room. That said, it didn’t take away from our overall experience. Check-in and check-out were very straightforward (just leaving the key card in the box at the entrance/exit). All staff were polite, friendly, and very welcoming. We also booked dinner in the restaurant as it was a busy Saturday night and we didn’t want to risk missing out on a table. The food was very good and plentiful. On a future visit, we might try Hartes of Kildare, which also has excellent reviews, just for comparison. All in all, it was a fantastic getaway from home, and we’d happily return.

The best place for food and service hands down! Had our sons Christening here at the weekend and it was a large group of 25. Everyone loved their food. It was served promptly and was delicious as always. Service was excellent as always too. Highly recommend. Such a lovely atmosphere too

A fab bar restaurant and the accommodation in the molly room was superb ... 👌 great facilities all round ... Will stay again

Amazing ! Everything u would want from accommodation! Clean, safe, Easy access, great service, great location, great food !! Everything I also lost a brand new pair of jeans…. They sent them down to cork for me. 10/10 service can’t thank them enough Also food and drinks were amazing… no other restaurant is anyway near the quality of the grub Thanks again Seàn
