An excellent family meal, the interior was full so we were able to eat outside in nice weather. Reservations are required, a very warm welcome and a very good meal.

I received a great welcome by one of the managers when I arrived. It was a lovely sunny evening and those big windows in the restaurant showed the surrounding countryside at its best. I had a delicious Chowder followed by a beef salad with honey and wholegrain mustard. All was very well presented and the friendly staff provided excellent service. This is a well run and managed restaurant , and the atmosphere with lovely music playing really adds to it and suits it very well. There are lots and lots of hats hanging from the ceiling which is a great twist from the norm. There is a side bar attached to the restaurant also. I was in the area and looked up the reviews on the Snailbox and they were very good and I also would highly recommend paying a visit. Well done to the kitchen staff, and all the staff involved. People were constantly coming and going to eat , and the phone never stopped ringing. The managers knew most of the people who arrived, so obviously the locals frequent the Snailbox regularly as well.

Well, what can I say. This place has it all. Amazing friendly staff..the Manager so helpful..an awesome chilled atmosphere, the food was exceptional...and hats...lots of hats.WOW Came to Ireland for friends birthday and was advised by our host at Duffys in Ballybin to try the Snailbox and it didn't dissapoint. Had the Black pudding starter, which tasted yummy. We also tried the Burger which came with chips, Stir fry and Prawn Thai curry which came with a choice of potatoes.. we opted for the boiled potato's in tomato and onion with cheese.....all mighty portion and very very tasty. Paid 130 euros and that was with a couple of rounds of drinks.. Guinness of course. The hats had us mesmerised and the story behind them is such a sweet one..ask the Manager and he'll show you the very first one...take your own hat and you can swap it for a Snailbox one. If your in the area, please try this place.

Cullen's at the Cottage

13/06/2025: Best Goat cheese of my life!! Freshest ingredients that you can taste. Such an incredible dinner we had, our server and manager at the restaurant were also super accommodating and attentive. Truly pleased with the food and service. I also love the marine fisherman theme. I thought it was very quaint while also being upscale and laidback. The parking in front was very small, and i recommend coming earlier so you have time to park if you're not a guest. they also don't have valet service in front but they probably had it elsewhere
30/05/2025: A lovely place for lunch- great food and wonderful service. My only problem: I am a wheelchair user and the disabled toilet is too small to allow a wheelchair user to go in and close the door. I won’t go into the shenanigans that went on involving my husband, the wheelchair, myself and the toilet. Suffice it to say that it was embarrassing. I brought it to the attention of a staff member. Otherwise great place.

Bakestone

19/05/2025: Fantastic place, great food, recommended for all
22/04/2025: Located in Fota Retail Park, Carrigtwohill, Bakestone Café & Pantry offers a delightful dining experience with its emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and artisanal products. Established by Joe and Maura Carey in 2013, this café has become a staple in East Cork, celebrated for its all-day menu featuring high-quality breakfast options and a wide selection of Irish artisan foods. **Ambiance and Service:** The café boasts a bright and airy atmosphere, perfect for casual gatherings. The staff are generally friendly and efficient, though some visitors have noted inconsistencies in service quality. **Food Quality:** While some patrons rave about the delicious breakfast dishes and fresh baked goods, others have reported mixed experiences with food temperature and presentation. The café's focus on local producers is commendable, but consistency in food quality seems to be an area for improvement. **Unique Features:** Bakestone's partnership with Badger & Dodo for their exclusive coffee blend, Common Grounds, adds a unique touch. The Pantry section offers an impressive array of artisanal products, highlighting over 150 Irish producers. **Conclusion:** Bakestone Café & Pantry is a charming spot with potential, but it needs to address the inconsistencies in food quality and service to fully meet customer expectations. Despite this, it remains a popular choice for those seeking a local, artisanal dining experience in East Cork.
