Why I love this place comes down to the people. The food is amazing and people have already talked about that (so good) .. but everyone is so helpful and friendly (I was taken aback). Shout out to Charlotte, Dermot, Rachel, Viola & Katerina 😊😊😊

Last week upon arrival, I stumbled into the alley where this ā€œhidden gemā€ is located. Unfortunately, it was at a time when there was no room left. No worries. I went for a nice walk and tried again a week later upon returning to Killarney. A little earlier, so kind of a private meal ;) I had the fried shrimp and the lamb shank. Absolutely delicious. Washed it down with a glass of wine and finished with a lemon/dingle gin-style cheesecake. Yummy. Friendly service too.āœŒļø

My fiancĆ© and I were vacationing in Killarney for two nights and were looking for a restaurant with both plant-based options and traditional Irish cuisine. We Googled and landed on this amazing place. Tucked away in an adorable street off a happening main road downtown, Stonechat restaurant offered us a charming private booth, without a reservation, in a friendly and hospitable manner. I ordered the plant-based burger, and my better half ordered the seafood chowder and sea bass. This was the best food we had in our entire week all over Ireland. We ate there both nights because the food was so good and the atmosphere so charming. We had more glasses of wine than we probably should have because we didn’t want to leave. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable that they even took the time to write down hiking recommendations. The Stonechat restaurant is a must visit in Killarney. You will regret it if you don’t experience it!

Murphy's Ice Cream

22/05/2026: What can't I say about this place! We walk in and are immediately greeted by the "sample guy." He asked us about various things and chatted before asking for sample flavors we wanted. He ran and grabbed them for us and also offered some suggestions for decent flavor combinations. We ordered and were able to get two flavors in one dish. Immediately we tried the salted honeycomb and coffee, both of which just melted on the mouth for a wonderful blend of flavors. The ice cream was very rich and just quite delicious. We were very grateful to have stopped in here and stood outside to eat our ice cream to help free up space since we were a larger group. Then Sean Murphy, himself, came out and talked with us. We told him about our reasons for traveling and he told us about the flavor profiles that they have at Murphy's. He then learned of our connection as a choir and asked if we could sing for them. We sang "An Irish Blessing" for them and they were incredibly receptive. Overall this might have been the best experience in Ireland for their kindness, intentionality, and delicious ice cream!
20/05/2026: Exotic varieties, but they're not worth the price.
