Stonechat in Killarney

We went to the stonechat for my mother's 95 birthday ......highly recommend,the food was amazing..fresh and presented perfectly....great service very kind staff......nice cosy atmosphere.....the best place in Killarney without a doubt

Absolutely top notch. I met Charlotte and Dermot tonight and was astounded at both their sheer capabilities and charisma. They couldn't steer me wrong .. one delicious bite after the next. Unbelabable. I said, hey I don't think I'd like that but they were like "trust me" and I did. Grapefruit? Delicious. They're all good friends in there and you can tell by vibes. Great atmosphere. The banoffie pie was the best dessert I've ever had. I almost got a second one but thankfully a very thoughtful woman said "maybe two desserts is enough". She was right.

This is a nice hidden restaurant in an alley way just off the main strip. The dinner was excellent and atmosphere is quite interesting. We had the Prawns and Bruschetta as starters and shared the 10oz Sirloin with Baked Potato. The only concern was that we asked for some toppings for the potato when the food was delivered. One of the servers said he would get it, but never returned. Other than that, our experience was great.

From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew this restaurant was something special. The interior design is absolutely stunning — a perfect balance of modern elegance and cozy warmth. Each dish bursts with fresh, vibrant flavors that reflect true culinary craftsmanship. Every bite felt like a carefully composed symphony — balanced, creative, and beautifully presented. I had the seafood Chowder to start and Lamb-shank for mains the quality and taste were impeccable. Equally impressive was the warm and attentive service. The staff made us feel genuinely welcome, anticipating our needs without being intrusive. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered thoughtful recommendations that enhanced the entire experience. Their warmth created a sense of hospitality that elevated the evening even further. This restaurant is more than just a place to eat — it’s an experience to savor, With its incredible design, exceptional food, and heartfelt service, it truly sets the standard for us when it comes to the perfect dining experience. I can’t wait to return and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a memorable meal. Thank you Rog (owner and chef) and to all the wonderful staff. You will be missed!

If you eat anywhere on your trip, make it here. The shepherd’s pie was absolute perfection, comfort food at its finest. Easily the best meal we’ve had on our entire trip. Cozy atmosphere, amazing staff, fair prices… this place is a true hidden gem that deserves all the love. Don’t miss it!

Very good food and very good service. We ate outside, and the nicest thing about it was that because the restaurant is located in a small lane off of Main Street, we were able to enjoy a quiet meal. There are several restaurants along Main Street in Killarney that also offer outdoor dining. However, Main Street is extremely crowded and noisy (at least it was when we visited). Stonechat is just slightly off the beaten path, and was a hidden gem.

Rarely... Rarely you find a place where all puzzle pieces fall together. Great food, great service, great music not too loud, not too quiet.. music that brings us back to our wild years. In a quiet street away from the busy main street. We love it.

Stonechat Restaurant is an absolute treasure. Perfectly located in the heart of Killarney, it’s tucked away down a charming little alleyway — the kind of place you almost don’t want to tell too many people about because it’s such a find. Inside, the restaurant is full of character, with warm, traditional vibes. Every detail feels carefully thought out, creating an intimate, cosy, and beautifully curated atmosphere that makes you want to linger. The food was exceptional — you can truly taste the freshness and high quality of the ingredients. Everything is homemade, offering a wonderful mix of traditional Irish dishes alongside some unique creations. There’s something for every palate here, with gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options available, yet still embracing all the hearty classics. We’ve been coming to Kerry for many years, and discovering Stonechat was such a pleasant surprise — it’s now firmly on our “must visit” list. The chowder and lamb were standouts, easily the best we’ve had in Kerry. If you’re in Killarney, do yourself a favour and visit. This place is special.
