Tannery in Dungarvan

A mixed platter. We stayed at The Tannery for two nights. We were attracted by the promise of excellent food, so booked in to eat on both evenings. Or at least we thought we had, as it soon became apparent that they had lost our dinner bookings. To the full credit of the staff they did rectify this quite quickly. The room was great but the sound proofing was shockingly poor. The couple next door would be embarrassed if they knew just how much we now know about them. On the first night the food was very good and our waitress was a gem. Not so on the second evening. We both reordered the crab brulee,as we had so enjoyed it the night before. Big mistake, it was curdled and lacking crab. The mains were an even bigger disappointment as they were totally lacking in flavour, to the point I began to question if I could have covid. When the young waiter came to clear the plates, asked if everything was OK, I said, actually, both mains were terribly bland, to which he looked at my empty plate and rolled his eyes. Not an acceptable response. We came for fine dining,this was mediocre comfort food and oh so disappointing. Has The Tannery become too complacent ? Needless to say, no one followed up on my comment to the young waiter, either that evening, or the next morning.

Just back from a lovely 2 night stay in the townhouse. The bedroom was lovely. The dinner was a really lovely treat, staff very nice and service was excellent. Breakfast was beautiful. Only 1 issue- you check in at the restaurant and the townhouse is accross the road from it. I think that might be useful to have on the website and also limited parking close to the townhouse. Dungarven a lovely place to visit with lots of pubs and great food choices. The tannery is very central. Visit Merrys & Nagles for drinks. Dun for pastries and Isabelles place for quirky shopping. All within a few mins walk of the tannery.

Really fine dining experience! Went there for my birthday and everyone enjoyed the experience and having good food! The best was the crab crème brûlée, it was chef’s kiss along with the desserts 🍨

Thank you for exceeding our expectations to celebrate a family event this weekend. The staff were fantastic dealing with such a large group and private dining room was lovely. The food (Sunday lunch menu) was excellent, everyone loved each dish they chose, raved about the oysters and crab creme brulee, trout and hake in particular. Thank you, all made the day very special and we loved it.

One of the most enjoyable dining experiences we have had! Every bite was delicious, and every detail of the meal was perfection! The staff were warm and friendly and very attentive throughout. We were recommended this restaurant by a number of people but it still managed to exceed our expectations. Divine!

Beautiful restaurant with creative wonderful dishes. My wife loved her oysters, my burrata and tomato salad was excellent. I really enjoyed the plaice, and I normally love fennel, although I'm not convinced they worked well together. Service was great

Decided on a last minute trip to Dungarvan and while enroute decided to try and book an overnight stay. I rang the Tannery and spoke with Valerie who had the most welcoming warm voice. Booked a room and decided to book dinner also. The food was absolutely sensational from start to finish. So well presented and bursting with flavours. I think the pasta starter I had is probably one of my favourite starters ever. I had beef for my main which was just melt in the mouth. Topped off with a scrumptious chocolate dessert.The service was wonderful and I was surprised that with such young staff they were so professional and informative.Grace our waitress was excellent. The manager Daniel also fantastic. Our room was spotless and such a comfortable bed. Breakfast was beautiful with lovely choices and the staff again very attentive nothing was too much. I am looking forward to returning with friends to taste the lunch menu which again looks delicious. A five star experience for sure. Bridget

Had a lovely stay there this month. Food beat expectations and service is really good. The guest rooms are basic but very well kept and decorated. Rooms are in a lovely townhouse a short distance from the harbour area and numerous nice bars and restaurants. I would highly recommend The Tannery for a nice break.

We stayed two nights in the townhouse and loved it. The bed and pillows were very comfy. Beautiful bathroom with a bath and separate shower. The staff in both the townhouse and the restaurant were extremely nice but professional in equal measures. We experienced breakfast and dinner. Our dinner was one of the nicest we had in a long time. Dungarvan is a perfect base for exploring the area too. We will definitely return to the Tannery!
