I can't comment on the hotel itself, but we came to Bailey Bar on the recommendation of Timmy from Sean's Bar, and we were so glad we did! The welcome from a funny waitress was perfect, and we had a wonderful meal. I ate one of the best hamburgers of my life, carefully homemade (and thanks again to the waitress for putting up with my fussy refusal of any greens in my burger 🤣). The place is cozy and feels almost like home. Don't hesitate to stop by if you're in the area.

Pulled a trifecta with this place.....had drinks; ate food; used their accommodations. The pub (gastropub actually, if that makes a difference) was quite well staffed when we were there. Beers were good and service was spot on. Had a meal there on our second night and were not disappointed. Plentiful, tasty and good bang for the buck I feel. Their rooms upstairs are very clean and the beds cozy but that's about all I can say about it. But then again, it's an old pub with old rooms, so really, what more do you want?

We came for dinner (still sitting here) and this is the best cottage pie we’ve ever had. I got the vegetable curry and it’s 10/10. Recommend!

Supermac's

10/12/2025: Really good takeaway. Usual supermacs offering. Deli counter also- often a better option than supermacs. No seating is only down side
26/10/2025: Food is as would expect from Supermac’sstaff are kind and courteous. It’s an awful pity that Google Maps did not outline - this is just the petrol station with supermac’s food counter. There is nowhere for my son (Bluebadge holder) or myself to sit down .. Was on the road from Galway back to Dublin. Don’t get me wrong. I’m a country guy at heart that’s why I chose S’Mc’s well used to eating in the car but it would’ve been nice to have been notified. Had we got seats and had access to toilet facilities to break the journey … So please post on Supermac’s website that there is no seats at this place and on Google Maps Please. Thanks

The Left Bank

14/02/2026: Stopped in Athlone to break a journey. Never so happy to have stopped. Amazing food, incredible choices. Option of dealcoholised wines.. a truly great find. Took a meal away for a person that could not be with us. Reheated to perfection...so would also be a great dine at home special dinner if needed. Will plan our trip around stopping here again.
