A lovely meal with friends we hadn't seen for a long time. Great selection of fish and everything beautifully cooked. Good wine list. Haven't been there for a long time but will go back. Service good and very helpful to my disabled husband. It was a little noisy as crowded but this shows how popular it is.
Located on Goreys main street, The Bistro is easily located, inside is bright and modern and very well spaced. The staff are welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. Service was appropriately timed and the specials listed with confidence. On serving the wine both a taste and the label show were perfectly executed. For the starter I had the goats cheese tartlet with rocket and balsamic. My partner had the smoked fish with mini toasts. Both portions were generous and incredibly flavourful.
For the main I ordered lamb shank, with creamy mash and seasonal green vegetables; she ordered the scallops and king prawns in chili sauce with the rosemary and garlic potatoes.
The lamb was perfectly cooked and fell from the bone with no effort at all. The mash was as promised very creamy and smooth, and the brandy jus both rich and flavourful. The scallops were deliciously tender with just the right amount of bite in the sauce, the portion of rosemary potatoes was incredibly generous, and perfectly crunchy if not a touch light on the rosemary and garlic.
Neither of us ordered dessert having been sufficiently stuffed, however the dessert menu seemed very appealing and a nice surprise to see humble classics like rhubarb crumble on the list.
Fantastic food, fantastic service and excellent fair pricing.
Food very good staff lovely but was very disappointed and very unhappy to here the owners take a huge percentage of tips which should all be going to staff will never eat there again
Great to be back to The Bistro!Fabulous food, I had the scallops and prawns in a white wine cream sauce and himself had Duck in orange sauce with The Bistro’s signature sautéed potatoes. The Malbec was divine, the place was buzzing with people happy to be back in the land of the living but safely distanced. Great service by Tina and her team, and chef James Bursey never fails to impress with his culinary delights. Thank you for fab evening!
05/05/2022: Had a lovely meal very helpful staff will be back very soon. Would recommend to friends when they go down
27/04/2022: We visited as group of 4 on a busy Saturday night over Easter. The restaurant has a nice buzzy atmosphere and service is very nice. The menu is excellent, there is not a dish on there I wouldn't eat so that made choosing very difficult! I have to say the bread was really delicious, especially the fenugreek bread. More of that please!!The food is all beautifully presented and clearly well cooked with fine ingredients. However, I found the chowder and duck a little under seasoned. The beetroot pannacotta was nice but I can't say it tasted of beetroot particularly. My husband had the paneer for his main and felt it would benefit from more spice. But those were small points and otherwise, the food was lovely. Overall, we had a wonderful night and will definitely return.
