A True Gem: More Than Just a Cafe, It's the Heart of the Community ★★★★★ It’s rare to find a place that feels like it’s been a part of your life forever, even if you’re a relative newcomer. Cafe Grange is exactly that kind of place. They truly don't make them like this anymore. My family and I have made it our reliable breakfast joint since we moved to the area, and it has become so much more than just a spot to eat. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is pleasantly down-to-earth and relaxed. It’s a homey, inviting space that is genuinely family-friendly, with enough room for strollers without feeling cramped. The owner and son are the stars of the show—both friendly and genuine people. The owner clearly cares deeply about his community and customers. We’ve had so much fun getting to know him and the local regulars he attracts. The cafe itself is a beautiful blend of culture and comfort. The walls are a conversation starter, adorned with a mix of contemporary figures like Cat Stevens and historical tributes to the city's past. You can learn about Odlum's Mills and gaze at the Sallins Canal, the oldest piece of the Grand Canal dating back to 1756. It’s a nod to the area’s history that gives the place real soul. And then there's the food. It’s quality, no-fuss, and the portions are great. Whether you're in for a full breakfast, a satisfying lunch, or a classic "99" ice cream, it consistently hits the spot. The restaurant is always clean and tidy. Extra Touches We Love: Weekend Vibes: Local kids work on the weekends, adding to the community feel. Dog-Friendly: The outdoor seating area welcomes our four-legged friends. If they're good boys, they might even score a sausage! Perfect Location: With two-hour parking along the canal, and a beautiful bike lane and scenic walking path right there, it’s the perfect pit stop. Whether you're a local looking for your new regular spot or a tourist seeking a place with historic value, personality, and great food, I cannot recommend Cafe Grange highly enough. It’s a nostalgic breath of fresh air.

Had the Farmhouse breakfast, it was delicious. The brown bread is homemade and tastes out of this world. They use free-range eggs - so another plus. Very friendly staff and good service. Highly recommend.

Popped in today for coffee as part of a local fundraiser!! Bumped into some old friends and plenty of time for chat in an easy going atmosphere. Had a very tasty 99 (ice cream cone) to finish off the visit. Very reasonable and delicious

Pizza Dog - Sallins

05/07/2025: Lifeline after hours food stop last night after a long day setting up tents in Dublin with Stretch Tents Ireland. Banging pizza and nice staff. 🤟
02/07/2025: The pizzas are between good and amazing, ample space in the back of the restaurant with a lot of tables and seating space. They lack advertisement for the option of sitting down instead of treating it like a basic takeaway. I've only discovered about the area when I was asking for the toilet and then later asked the staff is that area open for customers. Other than that I'm very happy with the food and treatment.

J. P. Healy Pub

14/07/2025: Enjoyed my night in JP Healys. Great service. Enjoyed the pints and the Music. 🙂
26/06/2025: Stopped into this bar while passing through town. It has a very reserved atmosphere—quiet, low-key, and not much going on in terms of energy or crowd interaction. The staff were polite, though not overly warm or chatty, which might suit some looking for a more laid-back or unobtrusive experience. Drinks were reasonably priced and served without delay. It’s not the most lively spot, but it has a certain calm charm to it. If you’re after a peaceful pint and a bit of quiet, this place will do the trick.
