A traditional pub whose size surprised us. It has several rooms and even a fireplace. The lamb stew was delicious, the beer was cold and served quickly. Smaller menu available until 4 pm.

This stands out from the rest of the dozens of other pubs and overly posh menu gastros because the quality of The Celt's kitchen is superb. Try the lamb stew or the cottage pie and get the Guinness brown bread to go with it. Go early enough and you can have a quiet meal before things get busier with music or matches.

Learned about this place from the sister pub in Mckinney, Texas. The manager running the place is an great leader and she knows her stuff! Absolutely the BEST Guinness stew!! The main room is fun but the central courtyard is beautiful and the backroom an absolute phenomenal fun time! Definitely a must stop in spot!

The meat pie and the vegetable lasagna, although very spiced, were delicious; especially the meat pie which comes with a kind of mashed potato, but gratinéed which gives it a spectacular crispy touch 😋.

There aren't many seats available if you go alone. The servers were friendly. I had the seafood chowder, and it was a bit greasy in the small glass... but the taste was good.

Very friendly staff, good food, nice selection of drinks, wonderful decor/ambience; we were there on a Wednesday evening, live music from 9:30 pm, much better than in the Temple Bar area and cheaper.

Herbert Park Hotel

08/06/2026: This is an excellent 5 star hotel with large guest rooms and exemplary food. The evening choices were outstanding and breakfast buffet had many alternative choices. Service was all right too.
15/05/2026: Nice location adjacent to a large and peaceful park, walking distance to many restaurants, shops, and businesses. In my stay for a week, it was mostly quiet except for a commotion involving hotel staff loudly conversing right outside my door one night. The room was fine, until I happened to take a bath the last day of my stay. The bathwater was BROWN. Checking the sink, it was too. Not brown enough to notice in a glass, but my goodness, I'd been drinking that all week. Hotel staff that night said it just happens sometimes and is safe. Hotel staff the next morning said it was due to construction work, and the plumbers thought it might happen but didn't know where or when. Breakfast was pretty good. Staff was also pretty good.
