The Elm Tree in Cork

Have eaten here many times but last time I arrived, at 12.15 on a Friday , was told to stand waiting for a table (among our party was a 86 year old who has limited mobility) while others bypassed the queue and joined a carvery one. After a considerable time the addled server told us — and a few others— there was no table service and menu and that instead we should join the carvery queue which by this point was huge . The Elm Tree doesn’t take table reservations at lunch and while this means they pack them in, it’s not a system that is customer friendly and in fact it seems v inefficient for very frazzled staff. In the end, we left and went elsewhere. I’m not sure we will ever bother to go there again It’s a shame as on other occasions we’ve dined there and been happy enough, although the food offerings for a vegetarian are limited— and especially so if you’re obliged to go to the carvery and not allowed to get table service with a menu of other options

Simply the best place to eat in cork, the food is delicious with a vast menu that has options to suit all food tastes, and the staff are all so friendly and welcoming, plenty of parking available,

Appreciate the staffs who are very attentive and always smiling. We did dine in for coffee and dessert. Ordered the sharing platter for dessert and Americano coffee. Value for money and taste of their desert is good. I also had previous dine ins lunch and dinner, the food is great and big portion. The only thing I want them to improve the taste of coffee they serve.

Staggeringly good food for a low price. Very friendly service, plus a warm, comfortable atmosphere.

We had the great pleasure of enjoying a meal at the elmtree today for my sons confirmation. Everything was top class as per usual, from the ease of booking with Lis a in reservations, to the service provided by the loveliest waitress Helen, the comfort, atmosphere and delicious food.....you simply can't top the Elm tree. Many thanks to all the staff.

Food was great. High quality. The staff were so accommodating, we were originally seated in the conservatory area which my partner who is on cancer treatment found a little cold and there was no issue in moving us in to the main area. 5 star service from start to finish.
