Hotel is lovely, the room was really nice & every employee we encountered during our stay was very friendly. Sarah on reception was very helpful in helping us get checked in & showing us around the hotel too, overall a great stay.

Think closer to a 4 star than a 5 star. Breakfast on the first morning was only ok. Full irish was over cooked and bacon was not good. Service very slow. Reception woke us up at 10.40 looking for a credit card number. It could have waited till morning as we were staying 2 nights but when I suggested this they didn't see to agree. Being honest tho the foor in Amber bar was very good and staff were lovely.

Fota Island Resort — Short Enthusiast Overview Fota Island Resort A large 5-star luxury golf and spa resort set on its own private island in Cork Harbour, Fota Island Resort is one of Ireland’s most complete “all-in-one” luxury estates — combining hotel, lodges, championship golf, and a world-class spa just minutes from Cork City. Atmosphere Think: A modern Irish luxury island estate — green, spacious, and built around golf, woodland, and calm coastal air. It feels less like a historic manor and more like a self-contained luxury resort village, where nature, sport, and wellness are the focus. Why it stands out Located on a private island in Cork Harbour, ~15 minutes from Cork City Set across hundreds of acres of woodland and landscaped grounds One of Ireland’s top golf resorts (championship courses, Irish Open history) Strong spa and wellness reputation (large hydrotherapy and treatment facilities) Mix of hotel rooms + suites + self-catering lodges for different travel styles Signature experiences 🏌️ Championship golf courses (major tournament pedigree) 🧖 Large ESPA-style spa with pools, hydrotherapy, and treatment suites 🌲 Woodland walking trails and cycling routes across the estate 🏊 Indoor pool + fitness + wellness facilities 🍽 Fine dining and relaxed resort restaurants 🏡 Lodge stays for groups and families (full kitchen, fireplaces, privacy) What enthusiasts love most The scale of the estate (huge, green, and private island setting) Golf-first luxury resort experience Choice between hotel comfort and private lodge living Strong spa + wellness infrastructure Easy access to Cork while still feeling “away from everything” Style & character Compared with Ireland’s other luxury hotels: Less historic than Ballyfin or Ashford Castle More resort-driven than boutique manor hotels like Sheen Falls More activity-focused than romantic “quiet luxury” properties Best described as: “Ireland’s flagship modern golf-and-spa resort on a private island estate.” Best for Golf-focused luxury trips Families and group stays (lodges are a big draw) Spa + wellness weekends Active resort holidays (tennis, trails, sports) Cork-based luxury escapes close to the city Official site: Fota Island Resort Official Website

Did the Me & You couples spa package and had such a lovely day! We started off with lunch which was delicious - chicken fajita bowl and an array of cake slices. We then did the mud bath (which also includes an outdoor sauna), followed by a massage and facial. In between treatments, we were put into the relaxation room, which was lovely. We finished all our treatments with some light refreshments. All in all, we were there from about 11.30-5.30, so I think we got our money worth. All of the staff were really welcoming and friendly, from the receptionist and the servers, to the masseuses. Everywhere was so clean too!! Really enjoyed this package and will definitely be back. I feel so refreshed!!

Beautiful hotel set on some magnificent grounds. The rooms were very comfortable and luxurious with an added bonus of having lots of ppv channels free to air on the TV. Food in the hotel is top notch and the staff are very welcoming and always willing to help in anyway. Pool, sauna and hot tub are also worth a visit and I will have no problem staying here again the next time I'm down this part of the country

I have been here twice, one for a confirmation and another for a wedding. Both times the food was delicious and high quality. In general, service and quality is amazing. In the summer, I would recommend!

Overall I was very impressed with the quality of service at Fota Island. The staff were super attentive and friendly. The breakfast was probably the best quality hotel breakfast I’ve had. The food was lovely and there were plenty of options for all diets and preferences. The hotel facilities were well equipped for not only just families but also couples and those looking to relax and unwind as well. If you’re wanting a relaxing place to stay in the south of Ireland then look no further!
