The Fota Restaurant in Cork

My husband, 2 year old daughter and I stayed at Fota over the long Easter weekend. We were a bit underwhelmed as we were expecting a bit more from a 5 start hotel but all in all it was a nice stay. Not a lot to do with a 2 year old at the hotel itself, however, Fota Wildlife Park was great nearby. Pros: + comfortable Deluxe room - very comfortable bed, we slept great! + lovely surprises in our room (teddybear for our daughter, bottle of wine for us) + iPad in the room for hotel bookings/room service + Breakfast is nice with good service and a nice selection + Eastern Essence massage was lovely at the spa, the relaxation room after was also very nice + Turn down service is lovely + Staff are very friendly, however, you can tell many are still getting trained + Beautiful gardens around the hotel Cons: - Rooms are dated (we had a Deluxe room on the 2nd floor) - Food quality at the hotel is not 5 stars. Limited menu and pretty mediocre taste (we ate at the Clubhouse, Amber Lounge and ordered room service). - Not a lot of activities to do with a 2 year old on-site. The playground by the lodges is subpar. I wish there was an indoor activity area for little kids. - Hotel pool has to be booked in advance - a bit cold for kids - Spa is not organized efficiently - lots of going from rooms to rooms. No refreshments in the waiting area. There is a hydropool/outside sauna you can use if you have a treatment (otherwise you have to pay 15eur) I wish they informed you before your treatment you have this option so you come to the spa earlier. I didn't want to use the hydro pool/sauna after my relaxing massage. - Sauna outside does not work (its cold) and the steam rooms did not work when we were there.

Near Cork Cobh. Great food recommend Monkfish, fillet steak in main restaurant and beef burger in bar restaurant. Rooms great. Book spa / meals / swim times can be done on app. Kids had a great time.

Myself and my husband have been here on 2 other occasions but this by far is the best! From the chilled out vibe in the bar to the most helpful and subtle of house keeping staff! We can not recommend this hotel enough, to start we were 2 hours early for check in but we were happy to wait, the reception happily accommodated early check in, we also were apprehensive about dinner as out last experience had not been amazing, I want to commend Peter and his team! From flavour to efficiency… we could not fault! The bar staff were funny and accommodating giving recommendations where required. The treatment in the spa was exceptional, beautiful much needed treatment! I want to say Fota is a treat for us but my goodness will we be back! Stunning experience 🥰

Great resort and service!! Will be back!!

This morning, I stopped by the hotel for a brief meeting with a colleague. The fountain was lovely, and the reception area was impressive. Regrettably, time allowed for only a quick coffee. The customer service was exceptional. I plan to come back for a night or two to fully immerse myself in the experience.

We stayed on a sat night. Family room. We had a voucher and when I booked I was told the balance was 100 euros. Despite being told this and I reminded the young man who served me, we were still charged full price. I complained later and they rectified the matter but the young man in question wasn't too happy to take any blame.I also left my glasses behind but when I rang the glasses couldn't be found. All in all it was a costly night. I wouldn't repeat the experience. It was a lovely hotel and my grandchildren did get a teddy bear each .

Very luxurious. Wonderful breakfast. Walking trails were beautiful. Location is beautiful, but know you will have to arrive by car (taxi). The train is a 40 min walk away.

Great hotel, lovely atmosphere. Helpful staff. Great little extras added in for the little man to make the stay even better for him. Lovely gardens, great fairy trail through the woods.
