Absolutely gorgeous baked goods and coffee! The wild elderberry sweet pastry was wonderful. Mocha was spot on. Sausage roll and veggie roll were perfect for breakfast.

The food is good. I think it's a good place to go for breakfast, even though it's small. I recommend it. But I find it disrespectful that the staff mock people in front of customers for not "understanding" the language and not expressing themselves well.

Here you can eat breakfast like in a real hotel, there are cakes, bread, all the good coffee, galões, espressos etc... simply excellent for those who like coffee here is one that stands out in the city of Cork, the competition is immense, wild capitalism a constant struggle to fulfill its duties (bills) like all of us, but Grumpy Bakers has earned its place and very well deserved when the product is good the customer always comes back and here it was no different, I hope you continue with the good work and I wish you many years to come.

Another day, another cruffin. I absolutely love this place and I would eat anything that comes out of their oven. Special mention to any kind of cruffin and almond croissants. Their coffee is delicious too! Overall a must visit in Cork!

I'm a regular at The Grumpy Bakers and big big fan. I always recommend them to friends visiting Cork, they're just the best. - Their coffee? Gorgeous. Really good speciality coffee, 10/10 great choice of beans. - Baked goods? Fabulous. Always changing in rotation so when you're curious about something new, you need to commit and get it before it sells out and/or is replaced with something equally tempting. I was inspired to finally post a review after I risked it all on a cherry cruffin this morning and floated out of my chair in ecstasy on my first bite. - Staff? S e x y. Really helpful, knowledgeable about their goods and sources, and just overall super lovely even when they're swamped with customers at their busiest hours. I'll be in for another one of their enormous quality sandwiches and a coffee soon for sure. Thank you guys!

Allow me to regale you of the tale of the BEST café in Cork. It began with a chef friend of mine telling me about the best pastry he ever ate, what and where was it? Says I, a cardamon bun from The Grumpy Bakers on the wash (washington street to those not in the know) says he. The rest, as they say is history! Everything about this café frames what it means to be effortlessly perfect. A deli style counter that runs in sections of seasonal pastries alongside some ever-present classics, sandwich counter, with all sambos being made by a window facing the street, and the fresh bread corner. All part of a small but cosy compliment of seating for those not on the go, with great music and a smell of fresh bread, A-grade atmosphere. 3 points of merit stand out as the reasons I consider this café the best. 1. The pastry counter is filled with a huge varity fresh made treats, that change based on what fruits are in season or times of year/holidays, halloween, valentines, Christmas etc. Along with a small but high quality choice of sandwiches made from fresh made basket loaves of bread made every day that people queue for outside the door before the 8am opening time. Fresher then the morning dew. 2. The coffee is sublime, I have to say the I really have done the appropriate research on this and I have it as either 1st or 2nd best coffee in the city (shoutout to the bookshelf on pembroke street) but it's an honest coin toss. It's a testament to the coffee and to the baristas. 3. It would ring hollow if I didn't mention the staff. They are the element that keep me coming back, the coffee is just a bonus! Becca is the bright bubbly blonde one, just a ball of energy that I met day one a year ago today and we have become great friends since, Jack and Josh, great makers of coffee with a supreme eye for what pastry I'm in the mood for lol and then there's Drew, thee Grumpy Baker, who's actually a big sweetheart and a gentleman. The staff are nothing short of supreme!! All in all, Cork is lush with a plethora of great cafés, but there can only be 1 "best". . . Enter... "The Grumpy Baker" HAIL HAIL 👏

Arthur Mayne, menu

14/09/2025: Very enjoyable meal and lovely wine
11/09/2025: Really fun, laid-back atmosphere. It's theme is an old pharmacy: tinctures and perfumes in glass cases. I had the Irish Coffee. It was really good.

Offbeat Donut Co.

09/09/2025: Beautiful selection of pastries. Hubby had donut with apple chunks that was fabulous. I had a dulce de Leche donut that was awesome.
25/08/2025: Amazing donuts! Many places tend to make them overly sweet, but I found theirs really well balanced. I especially enjoyed the Boston Creme and Pistachio. The service was friendly as well.
