The Left Bank in Athlone

Looked great walking in and really busy. Food was average at best though which was disappointing considering the prices.

First time at Left Bank Bistro. Had lunch here with the family. On the booking I had indicated we were celebrating a birthday but there was no effort made about that. We asked about gluten free options. One waitress told us spring rolls were gluten free but then when ordering another waiter said they were not and actually provided us with the allergen menu. The only gluten free starter was a salad. I was let down by the lack of coeliac friendly dishes on the menu. The restaurant gets quite loud when busy. There are no soft furnishings to absorb the sound, which I'd recommend adding cushions to chairs. We asked if one of the waiters could take a photo of the group and we felt very much like they couldn't get us out the door fast enough. Definitely lacking the personable and welcoming touch I'd expect from any restaurant. I'm unlikely to return soon due to my experience.

Fabulous, spacious and bright bistro adjacent to the beautiful River Shannon. Food was divine and staff so friendly without being intrusive. Didn't have room for dessert but will definitely try next time as I believe they are all homemade and delicious

Stopped by this place for lunch. Seems like a nice and busy place, lots of families having Saturday lunch there. Food was good, but not mind-blowing. Service was also good. Overall, not a bad place.

Cozy place. Friendly and helpful staff. Limited selection of dishes, but with daily specials. Homemade desserts that are truly excellent.

We are on holiday with a group of 7 people, we went to eat in this restaurant, I recommend it, a typical Irish place, good dishes, well cooked, plentiful and honest prices.

Very good place to eat on the way between Dublin and Galway. We have tried the cod, chicken and hamburger. All very good, really. The waitress, who spoke Spanish, was very friendly. 5 people with drink and without dessert €105.

Had lunch here on Good Friday. Food was excellent. Service was ok. Well worth a visit.

A wonderful lunch at the left bank bistro, delicious food in a warm and inviting atmosphere. A special thanks to Shauna, who took such great care of us—her attentive service and friendly approach made the experience even better. We'll definitely be back!

Great location, nice interiors, warm but not too hot. Early bird menu is good value for 2 or 3 courses, dessert was the highlight of the 3 courses. Wine by the glass is very expensive 9e/10e each. Attitude of staff was poor; one girl from Europe was a lot more friendly and pleasant than the two Irish staff, including a manager type lady, who gave no acknowledgement for the generous tip left. Would not rush back.
