The Mauretania Bar in Cobh

Great little pub on a building corner facing the Cobh port. Nice place to rest and have a little libation before continuing your day!

We stopped in this port and found wonderful Irish hospitality and ice cold beer at this wonderful bar.. Highly recommend stopping in for a cold one! Great outdoor space surrounding the bar as well with the view of the water.

Wonderful bar. Beamish and Murphys were very drinkable. And the craic on a sunny afternoon was amazing!

We called in for a coffee yesterday morning and John the landlord recognised me from 2-years ago during another visit to Cohb, unbelievable, following a very warm welcome back I asked if there was live music later in the day and sure enough Derek Burke Band was due at 2.00. Well what an afternoon we had, the Guinness was flowing and Derek was right on form. The square was packed, the sun was shining and a great time was had by all. We will be back again when travelling through Cork.

This pub charged €6.50 for a pint of Coors. The craic was mighty with Derek Burke music. The service wasn't great. Des the barman was sullen and never broke a smile all day. Apparently his own best customer as he even said he was drinking all day. We left some very good money there and felt his attitude was terrible. We went back the next day and the pint was €6.00 . So apparently yesterday we were paying for the music with the extra 50c per pint. This is disgraceful. We love coming to Cobh, but will not return to the Mauratania.
