Lovely atmosphere in a great setting. They have excellent treats and desserts so I would recommend this place for that. The food was only fair on this visit for us but may return to try some alternative options on the menu as other food options I could see looked good. I tried one of the specials for the day - which was the chicken goujon wrap. It was very basic - chicken, mayo, lettuce. For the price, I would have just expected it to have a bit more going on. Some sauce, relish, tomatoes or house slaw etc.

We're new to Athenry and are so happy to have such a lovely local restaurant. We've never had a bad experience and staff have always been really friendly and accommodating of our pram and baby. The restaurant, cafe and pizzeria are all fab in their own way. The treat box went down a treat with visitors and the cakes always look amazing. We've brought family to the restaurant and they've loved it too. I've never heard of anyone having any complaint about any of the businesses.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly & efficient service, delicious food. What's not to love! Good variety on the menu and the chips were particularly nice. Nice looking selection of home bakes for a coffee treat too.

Scott and his staff were very welcoming, including Darragh. Scott upgraded us, which was fantastic. We loved the extra space (thank you). When we left early, we were offered takeaway chia breakfasts and coffee - very kind and thoughtful.
Scott gave us some great places to visit, too, all very accessible from the Old Barracks. We also walked around Athenry and enjoyed the historical buildings and town.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and we could relax easily.
We had on-site parking, which was free, and it was only a short 20-minute train ride to Galway city. A plus when you're self-driving and want to enjoy the countryside.
We ate at the Old Barracks cafes and restaurant. Great selections, quality, and well priced with excellent service.
We definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again when we're back.

We hadn’t booked and 5 of us were delighted to be seated in one of the old cells, it was really cosy and perfect for a small group.
We enjoyed a variety of meals: chicken burger, steak sandwich and fish and chips. They were all delicious, however, if I’m being supercritical, all 3 fish portions were a touch small.
The service was brilliant, so genuinely friendly.
We once again had a lovely meal.
