The Pantry in Kilkee

Used be far better than it is now, I’m glad the carrot cake hasn’t elapsed in quality but there’s not much else would draw me in here. Still go here regularly on my visits but the place looks and feels incredibly different this year than what most people know the pantry for

Average coffee served by a super friendly chap. Not cheap

Expensive but lovely area of food

Coffee fairly bleak. Food is good in some parts and okay in others. Never terrible but never 5 star. The price is most expensive in Kilkee by far which isn't ideal when you're not the best. Open all the time which is amazing considering a seaside town.

This used to be one of my favourite places in Kilkee but I’m afraid it’s gone downhill in a major way since Covid. Instead of a cosy sit-down cafe, it’s now an impersonal food hall serving meals to reheat at home, plus sandwiches, coffee which can be taken away or consumed at the plastic tables on the pavement just outside. The opening hours are until 5 p.m. but you won’t find a table outside to sit at after 4:30. I don’t understand these annoying early closing times in Ireland - I have been all over the world but nowhere is as fast to shut up shop at the dot of 5 p.m. than this country. Very unwelcoming and off-putting!
