The Playwright in Kilkenny

This restaurant is just at the Main Street. We ordered a sheppards pie to share because we just wanted a snack and it did not disappoint. The portions are huge and the food comes with great flavor. I’d also add that the service is great and they serve the food very quick!

The roast beef is absolutely beautiful I'd pay 50 quid for it.

Appetising food in a beautiful setting friendly staff priced as per other establishments in the city so average price .... value for money good sized portions

Had the sourdough toastie and the veggie soup. Good chips and soup

My husband had a chicken Caesar wrap and appreciated the salad which added plenty of vegetables. I wasn't very hungry so had a small bowl of soup; it was just right. The waitress explained an "Irish coffee" to me; I wasn't sure I'd like it but it turned out to be terrific.

Fabulous cottage pie, very friendly staff, compliments

We stopped for lunch while visiting the city, very kind and friendly waitresses despite my "primordial" English. Typical dishes good, plentiful and above all hot! We had fish and chips and a shepherd's pie with a few pints of Smithwick, a more than positive experience!

Mi marido tenía una envoltura César de pollo y apreció la ensalada que añadió un montón de verduras. No tenía mucha hambre, así que tomé un pequeño tazón de sopa; estaba bien. La camarera me explicó un "café irlandés"; no estaba segura de que me gustara, pero resultó ser fantástico.

¡Si pudiera dar más estrellas lo haría! Personal absolutamente fantástico, muy amable y genial craic! La comida era fabulosa lasaña, patatas fritas, ensalada. Muy abundante, grandes tamaños de porción. El estofado de carne, pasta Penne y hamburguesas de pollo estaban deliciosos. Las pintas eran preciosas. Nos sentamos afuera y tuvimos a un chico encantador cantando en la calle... Gran día de verano en Irlanda.
