The roast beef is absolutely beautiful I'd pay 50 quid for it.

Appetising food in a beautiful setting friendly staff priced as per other establishments in the city so average price .... value for money good sized portions

My husband had a chicken Caesar wrap and appreciated the salad which added plenty of vegetables. I wasn't very hungry so had a small bowl of soup; it was just right. The waitress explained an "Irish coffee" to me; I wasn't sure I'd like it but it turned out to be terrific.

Fabulous cottage pie, very friendly staff, compliments

We stopped for lunch while visiting the city, very kind and friendly waitresses despite my "primordial" English. Typical dishes good, plentiful and above all hot! We had fish and chips and a shepherd's pie with a few pints of Smithwick, a more than positive experience!

I recently visited The Playwright Bar in Kilkenny and had a fantastic experience that left a lasting impression. Each bite was an explosion of flavour that had me reaching for more. It's a must-try for anyone who appreciates quality wings that are perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. BBQ burger it did not disappoint. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The BBQ sauce had a smoky richness that complemented the fresh ingredients, creating a harmonious blend of flavours. The burger was stacked high with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and a perfectly melted layer of cheese, all encased in a soft, toasted bun. It was a true delight and easily one of the best BBQ burgers I’ve ever had! Beyond the food, the atmosphere at The Playwright was incredibly inviting. The bar has a cosy, relaxed vibe with just the right amount of buzz. It's the perfect spot to unwind with friends or enjoy a casual meal. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that we felt welcomed and well taken care of throughout our visit. Overall, The Playwright Bar offers an exceptional dining experience with delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service. Whether you're a local or just passing through Kilkenny, this is a spot you don't want to miss. Highly recommended!

If I could give more stars I would! Absolutely fantastic staff, really friendly and great craic! The food was fabulous lasagna, chips, salad. Very plentiful, great portion sizes. The beef stew, penne pasta and chicken burgers were delicious. Pints were lovely. We sat outside and we had a lovely guy singing on the street... Great summers day in Ireland.
