The Shack in Athlone

The Shack Pub is an absolute gem that every visitor should experience. With its perfectly creamy pint of Guinness, this charming establishment offers a cozy atmosphere that welcomes you from the moment you step inside. The friendly staff go above and beyond to ensure you feel right at home, making your visit all the more enjoyable. Additionally, the bathrooms are impeccably clean, reflecting the attention to detail that defines this pub. Without a doubt, it's the best pub I've had the pleasure of visiting in town.

Nice restaurant-pub that we stopped at when driving from Dublin to Galway. Parking just outside and close to the road so it's easy to stop here. Nice staff, Irish feeling and good value, the food tasted good and it was good value.

This establishment has excellent service and interior. You can find good food, drinks, and comfort here at any time of the year. This place is especially wonderful during the New Year holidays. That is why it is in the TOP 3 of my favorite pubs in Athlone. In my opinion, it's not a cheap PAB.

Way overpriced. The food was good but would not return. Went for lunch there and enjoyed the food, but the prices were 5 star hotel prices, not pub grub.

That typical Irish place for food and a few drinks! The food is always good, sometimes the portions could be just a little bit bigger, but they have so many more positives, that the portion size gets thrown to the background! No doubt a place you must go in Athlone! Unfortunately no food after 5pm but you can't have it all! Ahaha

Came across this pub while we were looking around Athlone. We were looking for a good decent lunch, and were not disappointed. We got a roast dinner each and it was gorgeous. The beef was like butter, cooked to perfection and the veg and mash could not be faulted. Definitely pop into here if you’re looking for a good hearty Irish meal with good customer service. Also a traditional looking pub with an old feel to it so the atmosphere was great
