The Speckled Door in

The Speckled Door is an absolute gem! We visited it during our road trip in August because my girlfriend had been there 15 years ago and couldn’t stop talking about the legendary crab claws she had back then. When we arrived, it felt like time had stood still – everything was just as she remembered. The atmosphere is stunning: the cliffs by the sea, the breathtaking landscape – truly unforgettable! The ambiance left a deep impression on me and is something I’ll always cherish. Although the crab claws weren’t on the menu or the daily specials, we asked the incredibly friendly waitress if there was any chance we could still have them. Without hesitation, she checked with the kitchen, and they made them for us. It was my first time trying crab claws, and they were absolutely delicious! The service was outstanding: attentive, friendly, and accommodating. I’m already planning to return in 2025, almost solely because of these crab claws. A huge thank you to The Speckled Door team for making this such a memorable experience!

Not great, not bad, just ok! Instead of using traditional lightning there's ample LED mixed in giving it a strange vibe... Modern yet old... The roast beef was basically two slices that were just thicker than the average deli ham slice, much too thin to be called a dinner. Potatoes came out cold and the vegetables were bag or the frozen kind you purchase from the grocery store. The place is redeemable for it's location but I wouldn't go back for any reason other than their incredible broccoli soup which was a daily special.

Very good time at this restaurant! I recommend, the soup is delicious, the mussels and the fish too. We were there with our 2 year old daughter, and everything went very well! Go there with your eyes closed!

On a stormy rainy day in October this was like an oasis in the desert as there was nothing open elsewhere. There was a beautiful open fire 🔥 heating the small bar and lounge. We ordered the homemade soup 🍲 and coffee ☕️ and enjoyed the food and warmth 😋 Recommended.

Beim vorbeifahren entdeckt. Wir haben draußen gesessen und das Esser war lecker. Grünes Thai Curry...genau die richtige Schärfe mit frischen Gemüsestreifen. Fish und Chips ...frisch und super leckere Pommes. Ein wirklich tolles Lokal , wir empfehlen es sehr gerne

The pub can be reached on the way from Kinsale to the Old Head. It's worth eating a seafood chowder. Fish n Chips are a poem. All other dishes are also very good and have a good price-performance ratio.

Always a great spot for food and drink and of course great views

Highly recommend for food - we had gorgeous meal but kids food was disappointing- chicken goujons came out burnt and had to be sent back but adults food was faultless
