We were staying in Dooagh and happened upon The Valley House. Stayed for a few pints and a chat. Absolutely class place, extremely friendly service. We'll check out the accomodation and food on our next visit.

What a wonderful find on Achill Island! A hidden Victorian house by the sea. A grand estate with a tiny Irish pub in the back. A must visit! The hostel was very well furnished and a comfortable nightโs rest. I was very impressed! Breakfast was very generous and a wholesome stay.

Once a traditional hostel, this beautifully transformed historic house now blends the comfort and elegance of a boutique hotel with the friendly, communal spirit of a hostel.
The private rooms are located in the main house, and I loved the colourful and artistic decor Alice has created. It gives it a stylish and eclectic atmosphere without loosing the spirit of the historic manor home I am visiting now since over 30 years.
A generous continental breakfast, complete with Irish soda bread is served in the stately dining room which becomes a restaurant by night. Excellent food is also served in the pub or adjacent patio.
A bonus is the cottage style kitchen located in the former stables which is available for all guests. This is also where Pat and Alice placed the most famous table of all of Ireland.
The Valley House is a wonderful, welcoming place I was happy to see is coming back to its former splendour without loosing its friendliness.

My wife Vicky, friends Jon and Alex, and I celebrated Vickyโs birthday at The Valley House on Achill Island this past Sunday, enjoying a fantastic meal. The pub restaurant served delicious food in a warm, historic Victorian setting, with attentive staff making the evening special. While we didnโt stay, the hostel offers clean rooms and dorms, ideal for exploring nearby beaches and trails. A seasonal spot Highly recommended!

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this gem when we decided to stay another night in Achill, and let me tell you - it did NOT disappoint. Pat, the owner, is FABULOUS. He was so kind and welcoming and his hospitality was thru the roof. The bar was incredible and the traditional music they happened to have that night was amazing. The room was a great size, had super high ceilings, bed was comfy and the bathroom was also spacious and clean. Such a pleasant surprise to end our time on the island. Do not skip this place to stay or visit for a pint or two or three. Thank you again, Pat!! ๐๐ค๐งก

Popped in for dinner with 2 adults 2 kids. Food was lovely - good quality ingredients well presented. Only issue was my daughter's main took about 10mins to come out after ours which was a bit annoying but they were very apologetic so it was all ok. Would recommend

This beautiful old house was a great setting for a very tasty family dinner. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar looked great for a pint by the fire.

Excellent food, service, prices in a very beautiful setting.
We spent 5 nights in Achill recently & 2 of those nights we ate in The Valley House restaurant.
The food was so tasty and plenty of it.
A really good menu lots to choose from.
The pizza was one of the nicest I've ever had so much flavour & a crispy base. You can also pop into the traditional Irish bar for a drink after if you wish.
