The Wicklow Heather in Laragh

we found out about this place from our taxi driver, and he was lowkey so right in recommending here. the ambience is super nice, as is the food and the staff, particularly our waiter, Avinash who very sweet :))

Great food and generous portions. The building has an amazing atmosphere and the service is very kind.

Food was fine. Lamb was tasty enough, but nothing to write home about. The mashed potatoes and dessert were good. Service ranged from ok to stellar. I felt rather rushed during my dinner, as if I should give up my table. But when I finished the main course, I walked around the restroom and the other side of the restaurant was not even half full. Came in after 6-7 hours hiking around Glendalough, and so probably didn’t look or smell the best. But I didn’t expect to be so publicly embarrassed by one of the servers who said rather loudly, when I asked for them to hold the ice cream on the mixed berry crumble dessert (because I wouldn’t eat it and didn’t want to waste it), “well, it won’t cost any less,” so that the two tables nearest me looked at us. The truth is that I don’t eat dessert often, and really just wanted a couple of bites of the crumble to try. If I my goal was to save money on vacation, I’d have stopped by the coffee truck at the lake. Otherwise, the servers and manager were kind. They have some very cool books from the last 80-ish years which I flipped through. Ambience is great.

Best Salmon I've ever had! Their mushroom cream sauce was delicious! Perfect spot to go if you're in the area!
