Thyme in Athlone

A stellar meal in Athlone. A real focus on local produce, and expert handling. Rabbit and black pudding ballotine to start, a chocolate and cherry Mille feuille to finish, all homemade breads and the best cheese crackers have ever had. A recommendation to visit from anywhere.

Excellent little restaurant. Went for the more expensive menu as fillet steak was on it. Every course was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. Service was spot on. If I'm ever in Athlone again then I will be sure to eat here.

What a great place to eat. The food was fantastic from syart to finish. If you are in Athlone it is the place to eat. The servers were great. 5 stars all the way, it is so well deserved. Compliments to the chefs.

After a full weekend of tennis this was a great place to visit and relax and make plans for the next few weekends. It is not far from the tennis club either . Food was great, service was great and they have a good wine list.

We dined at Thyme this evening (first time). The interior in beautiful shades of green is stunning and so inviting. We had the filet and the halibut dishes. The 4 courses were just perfect. Very creative in both presentation and the various tastes which complement each other. The service was excellent with very knowledgeable and friendly staff!!!

Another wonderful meal at this fantastic restaurant, Ham hok starter was fab, beef and pork main course so good, but the coconut cake with passion fruit desert was the nicest desert I have ever eaten, The young lady who served us was so lovely, very professional but full of fun, Thank you for a really lovely evening, we are so lucky to have this restaurant on our doorstep!

We finished our one-day visit to Athlone with a superb dinner in Thyme. The starter of Ballotine of Wild Rabbit and mains of Loin and Shoulder of Wild Sika Deer off the Dinner menu were just divine. My partner's choice of Smoked Mackerel Pate and the Fillet and Belly of Free Range Pork off the Value Menu were equally satisfying. All the accompaniments blended perfectly as did the desserts to finish. Everything was delivered through most efficient and friendly service. What a treat and what value!!
