A hidden gem. Deserves a Michelin Star

Food was lovely and the presentation was *chef’s kiss*. Staffs were really nice and attentive and made sure that all are needs were taken care of—allergies etc. Atmosphere was peaceful on a Thursday night. Great attention to detail after mentioning graduation celebration on our reservation booking. Would come back again! *note to customers, if you’re unsure of what the dish is, ask. No complaints on our end tho :)

An exceptional food experience in the heat of Ireland that you should not miss! There are two menus - one for around 70€ and a value option for around 45€ - and it was hard for us to decide as both were full of great choices. The Ambiente is very nice and classy but cosy and welcoming at the same time. We had fish and meat and both choices very extra ordinary good, the meat to the point and everything fresh and all ingredients so carefully designed so that you had a sensory experience with every bite you took. Wine was also very good and the service as it should be: very friendly and there when you need them. We recommend making a reservation

Excellent little restaurant. Went for the more expensive menu as fillet steak was on it. Every course was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. Service was spot on. If I'm ever in Athlone again then I will be sure to eat here.

A stellar meal in Athlone. A real focus on local produce, and expert handling. Rabbit and black pudding ballotine to start, a chocolate and cherry Mille feuille to finish, all homemade breads and the best cheese crackers have ever had. A recommendation to visit from anywhere.

Another wonderful meal at this fantastic restaurant, Ham hok starter was fab, beef and pork main course so good, but the coconut cake with passion fruit desert was the nicest desert I have ever eaten, The young lady who served us was so lovely, very professional but full of fun, Thank you for a really lovely evening, we are so lucky to have this restaurant on our doorstep!

We finished our one-day visit to Athlone with a superb dinner in Thyme. The starter of Ballotine of Wild Rabbit and mains of Loin and Shoulder of Wild Sika Deer off the Dinner menu were just divine. My partner's choice of Smoked Mackerel Pate and the Fillet and Belly of Free Range Pork off the Value Menu were equally satisfying. All the accompaniments blended perfectly as did the desserts to finish. Everything was delivered through most efficient and friendly service. What a treat and what value!!
