Great gem at the heart of Carna, food is like home cooked and fresh food from home. Simple dishes with hearty taste. The owners husband on the ball with the service and even was kind enough to find my lost wallet and return it to me through some investigation! Thank you forever grateful.

We stopped in on our campervan tour of Western Ireland. Friendly locals, lovely bar staff (especially Barbara) Good food at reasonable prices. Well worth a visit

We discovered Tigh Mheaic on our recent family holiday in Connemara. A gem of a spot right in the Carna Gaeltacht serving honest good food with lovely service. Highly recommend the fish and chips! Compliments to the chef and management. A joy to support a local business that is clearly a big part of the community as well as hearing the locals speaking Irish. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.

What a magical place !!! Not only is the food amazing and the service excellent , the local people there are warm and accommodating! Enjoy a pint of Guinness, take in the enriched culture , and listen to the exceptional local entertainment!! I can’t wait to return !!!🥰🥰‼️

My son and I had dinner here one night and drinks until late night, two nights in a row. The fish and chips were amazing. A nice wood stove going and one night a live band. There was a good mix of locals and international students. Lots of music and dancing. Great staff at the bar. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Carna.

02/08/2025: Food was delicious, atmosphere was typical of an Irish "country" pub in the most complimentary of ways, and the service was delightful—especially when it came to Ava as a server, she deserves extra credit for her attentiveness and good humour in dealing with our group ☺️ Have never been disappointed with the Hatchet in my many trips there for dinner and drinks, and I doubt I ever will! Well worth the drive out every time!
