Trattoria Magnetti in Galway

7 of us had a reservation here on a Friday evening. Staff were clearing a previous sitting but still should have made an effort to serve us! We had to go find someone for menus, then again to order our drinks. The waitress who served our drinks was lovely, but we again had to call someone to order our food. We had some bread and olives to share to start luckily, as our pizzas didn’t arrive until we had been in the restaurant for 90mins! The restaurant was not busy, and there seemed to be plenty of staff- but apart from the first waitress, none of them seemed happy to be there! The food itself was very good. I had a gluten free pizza with a very decent base (not guaranteed everywhere) and everyone else was very happy with theirs too. There is a wide selection of pizza toppings, but even so you can “build your own”. We also had excellent rosemary potatoes and a good mixed salad on the side. The pasta, risotto and grill menu looked interesting too. We didn’t stay for dessert as we had already been there for ages, and the final waitress was particularly surly.

The servings are very large. Amazing view of the street, but unfortunately if you sit outside there is a high probability that a bird may defecate on you. We witnessed multiple people get hit from above. It is like this on the entire street, so not the fault of the restaurant.

We go here every time we go to Galway. The atmosphere in the restaurant is excellent, food is nice, freshly prepared, portioned well. We were past here on the August Bank Holiday weekend, so as expected it was extremely busy, wait times on food was a little longer than usual however, this was expected. Staff and service are always friendly and chatty though they definitely needed extra hands this weekend. That said they still made great efforts and were as prompt as they could be. Must say they were excellent at dealing with some customers which were rude and inconsiderate of how much pressure the staff were under. As always we will be back.

When you're Ireland and you hear all the staff in the kitchen speaking Italian, you know you made the right choice. And it was!

If you've had enough of fish and chips and Guinness... Italian atmosphere, pasta perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, fair prices. Moretti on tap to go with it. Thank you!

Excellent food, authentic Italian. The only flaw is the service; some waiters seem annoyed and unhelpful, while others are very friendly. Overall, a positive experience.

Excellent Italian restaurant. Definitely worth a try to experience the flavors of traditional Italian food.
