Oscar Wilde's old holiday home is now an Irish diner where you can enjoy a delicious meal while admiring his quotes on the wall.

If you are heading down to the Bray seafront and order the Traditional Fish & Chips at Wilde’s Bar & Restaurant, you are in for a proper coastal treat. Priced at a reasonable €23, it is consistently one of the most popular comfort dishes on their gastropub menu. The Batter & Fish: They use a fresh fillet of cod coated in a beautifully light, golden tempura-style beer batter. It avoids that heavy, overly greasy layer you sometimes get at standard takeouts, keeping the fish inside perfectly steamed, bright white, and flaky. The Chips: You get a generous portion of thick, chunky pub-style chips that are crispy on the edges and fluffy on the inside—absolutely perfect for dipping

I initially was very upset by the inaccuracy of the menus allergen descriptions but after having the lamb shank, goat cheese & peach salad and the Irish bacon cabbage I cannot give them less than 5 stars. Make sure to double check allergens! The staff was helpful although I did have to clarify what it is I’m allergic to and they helped me find many amazing options.

We had a very good experience at The Strand. We came from the states for a wedding at powerscourt and felt The Strand Hotel suited our needs and the commute was easy. The owners, Raj and Jennifer, were fantastic throughout our stay. Always on hand to help with advice and suggestions. There really is a huge difference in a family run business. The warmth and genuine care is abundant. Their daughters also work in the bar and make fantastic hosts. We got chatting to some locals who told us they come in purely for the friendliness and welcoming attitudes of the family. Now, on to the rooms. We were in room 6. An ideal husband - appropriately named. It is the former home of Oscar Wilde’s after all. It was bright and spacious with a stunning sea view and one of the most elaborate light fittings I’ve ever seen in a hotel room. Tea and coffee facility, powerful shower and housekeeping services throughout our stay. Anything we needed, was always made a priority. Large comfortable bed with good pillows. I slept very well. The bar downstairs seems to be the main area for food but there’s also a cute Indian restaurant to the back of it and we had dinner there on our second night. Simply cannot fault it. Some of the best Indian food I’ve ever tasted. The bar food is also up there in terms of taste, portion size and the service given. The breakfast, in particular, was unbelievably good 😊 So would I recommend? You betcha! If not only for the awesome owners who made it so much more enjoyable. We look forward to returning and will miss all the lovely staff. Mel & Chris

Wilde's Bar and Restaurant is really lovely. They are now serving upstairs, which was very cosy, we were seated by the window so it was very bright and airy. They have a great menu, the food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and efficient. A lovely shop to browse with a wide variety of stock. A garden shop outside which was also a lovely place to browse. I highly recommend Wildes.

Sort of confusing cause the place seems to be an Italian restaurant, an Indian restaurant and a pub in 1. Pints were good, got a little pizza and it was solid

The Martello

14/06/2026: We had a lunch with the in-laws in the upstairs rooms and it was the best service we've experienced anywhere in a long time. From the minute we arrived the staff was very attentive and friendly, we were grateful for the sea view table. We were looked after several different waiters and the whole team seemed well organised and we were checked on often, water was refilled frequently and the food arrived fast. Everything went smooth and the food was delicious and well presented. The perfect Sunday lunch for an early Father's day for my father in law. Thank you Martello restaurant! We'll be back soon hopefully!
14/06/2026: Was only in the restaurant. But excellent.
