20/02/2024: It is astonishingly difficult to get fish n'chips at lunch time in this area during the off season. The Galley being the welcome exception. Service was a bit slow, but it was busy.

13/02/2024: Great service, very reasonable price We had a burger and an open prawn sandwich, both were very good. Would definitely call again.

28/04/2024: We travel often and love trying new places. We came to Downings in our Campervan for a few nights and had our dinner both nights here. I have to say that this was some of the best food I’ve ever had, even down to the coffee. Little hidden gem, compliments to the chef. Also the cleanliness, and very friendly staff must be noted. Highly recommended. .

03/04/2024: Wonderful reception+ bar area. Let down by it's anti doggie policy, which In a beach / tourist location is quite odd!

07/05/2024: food is "ok" but €22.50 for a small portion of cod in panko breadcrumb and a cup full of chips is really expensive. Cod is typically not rich in flavour and this was no exception. It is also usually imported frozen and this certainly had the slightly mushy texture that suggests that this was the case here. The chips were the skinny type that are "fine" but nothing special and my guess is bought in rather than prepared on site. Chowder was OK but very creamy rather than a rich, fishy stock. It was also too cold. €13 for a small glass of wine. Staff were friendly and polite. Not their fault. All in all mediocre at best.

27/04/2024: A lovely little place, tasty fresh food dishes. Staff friendly and efficient. Will definitely come back.

16/10/2023: No accommodation available due to Ukrainian residents, nevertheless bar & food service/quality is unquestionable. Mairead - the host - made it a very pleasant experience!
