Rouge
Galway
24/09/2025: Fantastic food, the atmosphere was really great and staff very friendly. The surprise mixed starters where absolutely fantastic, cozy atmosphere, it got busy in the evening but not noisy in a way that was uncomfortable. Easy to have a conversation etc.
22/09/2025: Food was great. Servers seem to be both short handed and not paying attention. There’s a balance between being left alone to enjoy a meal and being forgotten about.
We had to pass on desert and coffee after waiting 30 minutes … and had to walk up to the cash register to pay our bill so we could leave for our walk back to our hotel.

Java's
Galway
30/08/2025: There have been several bad reviews of Java's which refer to the rudeness of staff, and I am not surprised. I live around the corner from Java's and have eaten there many times. But my treatment by staff on my most recent visit was simply appalling. I was with a friend, who has mobility issues and uses a stick, and thankfully there were a number of tables downstairs. The waitress indicated a table with three chairs, and told us we could sit there. We ordered our food, and the pancakes and coffees arrived. We were tucking into them when the waitress came over and said "Ladies, would you mind moving to that table over there? (a table for 2), there are four people who need this table". The four people were a group of French tourists, who were waiting at the door. We were frankly stunned, and didn't know what to say, but it was clear that we weren't happy, but the waitress just went ahead and moved our plates to the other table - in the middle of our meal! A number of people at other tables were clearly shocked at the way we had been treated, and one lady told us on her way out "I hope you get a refund from them, that was disgraceful". Then another waitress came over at one point and asked "were you not happy to be moved? If so you should have told us!" - as if WE were the one's to blame!! I explained that we had been very unhappy to be moved, but didn't want to make a scene in front of the French tourists. But even knowing of our dissatisfaction, when I went to pay the waitress (who had moved us!) was on the till, and calculated our bill - for the full amount! I said "Really? You are charging us the full amount?" She just shrugged her shoulders. I told her "we were not happy to be moved, and you could at least have let us off the cost of the coffees." Again, shrugged shoulders. I told her I would never visit the restaurant again, and I won't. Great pancakes, good coffee, pity about the appalling, rude and unprofessional staff.
28/08/2025: I was waiting for crepes for 40 mins when I eventually asked for my order seeing that people who came in later got theirs already. It obviously was forgotten about.. I probably wouldn't post this review seeing that the girl was a bit embarrassed, however I was still charged for a coffee. I would imagine a bit of decency not to charge me.. specially that it was late in the evening. not knowing Galway I googled around and didn't see many places opened at that time where I could have a treat
