06/01/2026: We visited here for lunch. The main lounge was nice, bright, modern and warm. We were seated and had food orders taken. Servers were friendly and efficient. Food arrived quickly and was very good. We can recommend Moycarn Lodge.

28/12/2025: A really wonderful spot in the cute town on Ballinasloe! We stopped here for a late lunch on our way to Galway and all loved our food, we got the grilled breast of chicken and the battered cod. The chicken was super juicy and well seasoned and plated beautifully! Our waitress was great, and the atmosphere was so cozy. 10/10!
20/12/2025: I dined here recently for lunch with some work colleagues. The waitress was very welcoming and had a lovely manner. I had duck spring rolls to start. They were beautifully hot and crispy on the outside with plenty of duck meat filling inside served with a salad garnish and hoisin sauce. I didn't leave a crumb!
I had the steak sandwich for my mains and was delightfully surprised when the waitress asked how l would like it cooked, as l have found many eateries that do not offer this choice. It came out served exactly to my liking. The steak was served whole on a single piece of sourdough bread and with onions atop, house fries and homemade peppercorn sauce on the side. The meat cut like butter and was melt in the mouth delicious! My companions equally enjoyed their meals. The stir fries were finished with little touches of toasted sesame seeds and coriander.The fish in the fish and chips option was beautifully cooked with a lovely crispy batter.
I would highly recommend and will definitely be back again.

18/10/2025: I could get no room in the shearwater hotel, they recommend pillar house bar to me, I just wanted a bed to sleep in, nothing fancy.
It's in the town , and a few steps down from the pub itself.
Absolutely did the job for me, the bed is massive and ensuite small but it's only me.
50 euro for the night no breakfast, that's grand
And no hurry up in the morning.

30/11/2025: Today, my daughter and her friend were denied entry to this establishment, and we believe it was solely because they are Spanish. The situation was discriminatory and extremely unpleasant. We want others to be aware of what happened so they can decide whether they wish to support a place where such incidents occur.

09/09/2025: Asked for a southern fryed lunch box said no problem but what I got was two dried up drumsticks ,and a dried up thigh with over seasoned / reheated chips( not southern fried ) id say chicken was lying under heat lamp all day ,absolute crap ,the guy tried to say it was fresh and southern fryed.nowvut was far from Southern fried ,over fried id say ,food has gone downhill in last 5 years, it's now the pits ,the dog wouldn't even eat it ,
Very dissatisfied customer .
