04/07/2025: Amazing fresh perfectly cooked food. Lovely people. Recommend the local Annuscull belly of pork dish. Ten out of ten. A wide range of deli options salads and fresh sourdough bread. Beautiful cakes.

31/05/2025: You absolutely have to stop by the Forge if you are in the area or passing through. My husband got the chicken pesto sandwich and I got the chicken caesar salad sandwich. Both were absolutely amazing packed with meat and flavor. I’m going to be thinking about this meal even after we travel back home. We also got coffees and a scone and those were great as well. On top of all of that, the hospitality was great and everyone was welcoming. We will be recommending this spot to anyone we know visiting the area!

21/07/2025: We recently stayed at The River Island Hotel in Castleisland. We were pleasantly surprised by its old-world grandeur, especially the lobby and hotel bar areas, which truly left us in awe. The public spaces are beautifully maintained, full of character, and set the tone for a unique stay. The hotel bar also serves a great pornstar martini. While the rooms themselves feel more dated than grand—with smaller spaces, lower ceilings, and traditional decor—they have everything you need for a comfortable stay. It's worth noting that parking is conveniently located nearby, even if it's not directly on hotel premises. What truly set this experience apart, however, was the exceptional service. Check-in and check-out were friendly, efficient, and probably the most professional we've ever encountered. The hotel staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Our experience at the restaurant was somewhat mixed. While our waiter seemed a little unsure about our preferences, the food itself was tasty and reasonably priced. At breakfast servers were kind. Food was very basic. In choice and flavor. Ultimately, we enjoyed a good night's rest and found the hotel to offer great value for money. If you appreciate classic interiors and stellar service, and don't mind rooms with a bit of vintage charm, you'll find a lot to love at The River Island Hotel. The magnificent lobby and bar are truly memorable!

21/07/2025: Great hotel. Yes it is a bit older but it is so charming with the entrance, the library and the dining room. All the staff are so nice and helpful and solved our problem quickly and professionally.

05/05/2025: Nice cafe but service pretty poor. 5 on duty yday and took a while to give our order, they forgot to bring it and also forgot sugar etc Food was nice though tea (I'm guessing Lyons) wasn't nice but that's a personal choice
