Castle Leslie Estate
Glasslough
14/11/2024: Absolutely stunning and relaxing location. Very clean and comfortable.
09/11/2024: A Memorable Evening of Flawless Food and Service at Castle Leslie
What an incredible experience at Snaffles Restaurant in Castle Leslie! Every course was an absolute delight, showcasing the finest flavors with impeccable presentation. The food was truly exceptional, but what makes each visit unforgettable is the outstanding customer service.
The entire staff is warm, attentive, and highly knowledgeable, which really elevates the dining experience. Special mention goes to Daniel, who went above and beyond for us last night. Since we don’t eat red meat or pork, he carefully checked every detail of the menu, even down to the bread and butter, to ensure everything met our preferences. His dedication and attention to detail were so appreciated.
The team at Snaffles is a real credit to Castle Leslie, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended for a memorable evening!

Pocono Glaslough
Glasslough
27/10/2024: I drop into Pocono every 2/3 weeks on a regular trip from Donegal to Dublin with my daughter for a coffee and a sandwich and i must say that the sandwiches are top notch. ( made with McCloskey bread) The staff are very friendly and attentive and always have a smile. Glaslough is a peaceful detour on my journey and i get to enjoy a nice coffee and grub while passing through.
Neville & Clodagh
18/10/2024: Such a gorgeous little cafe/grocery shop down the road from the beautiful Castle Leslie. Homemade treats and ice cream, delighted I stumbled across it. Staff are super friendly too. If you're in the area for a wedding or passing through definitely stop in.

Ambledown Cottage
Glasslough
21/09/2024: This was our 2nd time here. Food was fine, nothing spectacular...garlic bread fair enough, pizzas OK, although one was overpowered with garlic. The service was very slow.....our reservation was for 7:15, it was after 8:00 before our starter arrived.
The area we were seated in was very loud and seriously impacted negatively on our evening. Ambledown Cottage has the possibility to put large parties in separate chalets or rooms...we had the misfortune to be beside a group of 8 very loud women...who got louder as the evening progressed. Our waitress even apologised for the noise levels as we were leaving.
Overall, a disappointing evening. When spending €60 on dinner (without alcohol), the very least I would expect is a relaxing ambience. Not this evening....
04/08/2024: Top class place. The food is always unreal . Byob is a bonus and the setting is super.

Conor's Bar at The Lodge
Glasslough
10/08/2024: Unfortunately after visiting CL for 17 years this has to be the worst experience I have ever had. Unfortunatley the menu is very constrictive and limited in choices. The chef seriously needs to review this especially for vegans and coelic options. However I fought to find somethng and had a starter with sides. The biggest issue is the quality of service which has gone from absolutely superb to absolutely awful. We asked, repeated and recalled and every time there was an excuse, multiple mistakes and blank faces staring at us. We were not the only table complaining but I will not speak for others. Come on CL, do not let this institution decline especially at the prices you are charging!
03/07/2024: Went to this bar this afternoon for a friend’s birthday . The food and the place were great, really lovely , but the service was - sorry to have to say it - poor .
Service can be a deal breaker and difficult to get right . The first waitress - a Malaysian / Indonesian girl was glum . The water carafe had really wet the table and the menus , however , she made no effort to get a cloth and dry the table . Her attitude towards us was a variety of indifference and quasi hostility . She did not engage with us in any way apart from writing down our order . There was no banter , no smile , no reference to the food . We also ordered a bottle of wine between two . I clearly stated I wasn’t drinking ( as I was the driver ) but yet two glasses arrived . I felt like I was the one who did something wrong when she curtly pointed out that I needed to move my water beaker in order for her to put down the wine glass ( which I was not going to use anyway ) . We both felt almost intimidated to ask anything as feedback and engagement were apparently ‘ not on any menu ‘ !
The food arrived and it was super . That said nobody asked us if we were ok or if the food was ok or if we needed anything . We were left to our own devices . We requested assistance from three other waitresses throughout the course of the meal . Two were business like and one was just inexperienced - we left a tip but she did not even say ‘ Thank you ‘ . This was disappointing .
A more mature lady approached at one point and she was somewhat friendly . She offered to refill the water carafe but the water never arrived .
Before leaving I went up to the counter to say goodbye and thanks but all waitresses were involved in some sort of kerfuffle and didn’t even look at me or say anything as I said my goodbye and thanks . Again very disappointing .
This is a lovely venue and great food but sadly attention to detail was lacking and service should be better . Maybe everyone was having an ‘ off day ‘ but these days shouldn’t really be foisted on the customers . I would definitely return because of the quality of the food and the venue itself but the service needs an upgrade

Coach House & Olde Bar
Glasslough
01/08/2024: Prompted to write this partly due to "niggles" which have occurred on last 2 visits, some weeks apart.
You have to feel for the chefs slaving away to produce the carvery. Beef a little rare first time. Good choice of serve-yourself veg's and gravy.
Serving girls seem lovely.
OK, one niggle...the music! Incessant 120 bpm thumping monotonous songs. Surely time to get a new soundtrack?... something more relaxing/chillout. This noise just makes you want to finish up and leave. It's not overly loud, - just inappropriate! But we are in Merseyside, so pretty much par for the course, regretfully.
Secondly, and I'm sorry to mention this, on both occasions I have had to endure the cyclical constant hacking cough of one of the young barstaff. Previous time lad was walking around grasping a hanky to his nose. Not a good look or sound, or good for the ambience, never mind hygiene.
With some work on the ambience this place has promise.
08/06/2024: Ms Wright was the perfect host, so warm and welcoming! A quaint establishment, a gem of a pub, like stepping back in time! All the staff were great, nothing was too much trouble. I can’t wait to go back!
