The best restaurants in Moate

25/05/2025: Love Peader's Bar, staff and customers are always so friendly! Have stopped here twice over the years mainly because they are pet friendly and have a massive beer garden out the back. Can't wait to come back.

12/07/2025: I was visiting Ireland and staying in Moate whilst recerching my ancestry. I came across P Eagans bar whilst out with my dog. Paul and his staff welcomed me with such warmth and dedication. I have no reservations on recommendations for this wonderful traditional Irish pub. Thankyou Paul & staff for making my stay and very rememberable. Paul & Annie.

13/04/2025: I visited several pubs in Moate and this was my favorite! The bar keep, Paul, was top notch! He even had candy for my kids! Very kind!

10/06/2025: Waited 10 min at table to be served, girl came over, told her my order, said it was her first day and couldn't take orders, another lady, looked like owner /manager said she be with me in a min, when she did come down tookborders from others that just walked in. Eventually ordered my breakfast, with brown bread and tea, got tea, got breakfast, no bread, asked young girl and after few min brought me down, what looked like white sourdough. I called owner /manager as she passed and said one min, after another few min no bread. Went to counter, asked again, told one min. Got fed up after about 5 min, thus stage breakfast and tea were stone cold, went to counter and told them to keep it. Outside writing this, same lady came out and apologised and said short staffed, I stated it was only brown bread and why didn't she hand it to me, she said the had no brown bread, for heavens sake, all the had to do is say so and I would have got toast

03/06/2025: We brought our group here and had terrible service. We called ahead and told them our group was coming, which they said they would be more than ready for us. We quickly learned after trying to order that many things on the menu were unavailable. We had to go through three or four rounds of ordering before getting it right. Part of our group got the food in 20 minutes part of our group it took 2 hours, and then one I our group had no food at all. No apologies, we paid and left, frustrated. I wouldn’t eat here if I was you.

25/03/2025: Never played before lovely course some great holes greens were superb for time of year definitely goin back in the summer very enjoyable

23/03/2025: Presentation of the course was excellent. Best Greens I have ever putted on in March in Ireland. Well worth a visit. A hidden gem..

08/08/2025: I was looking forward to a family reunion here on July 26. A group of eight cousins looking forward to good food. Those who ordered steaks were disappointed as none were cooked yo order. When the nsnager asked how our food was and he was told about this, he vanished and never came back to out table. Not impressed at all. The staff also messed up the billing as couples each wanted to pay for their own meals and I was handed a bill for the whole group. I was embarrassed having to clarify that I was not paying for everyone.

27/07/2025: Below average experience. The food is ok. Portion size is absolutely terrible. Been here a few times but the last time was the final straw. Came here one day when it was busy, was just popping in with 3 friends to get a pint and be ok our way. There was a few people looking for seats so I approached the bar and asked the guy (mid 40’s?) about just sitting at the bar for a pint and he was absolutely foul mannered. He said “why don’t you join the queue like everyone else trying to get a table in here” I love locally and this bar/restaurant is quite close to me, many occasions I choose to go elsewhere for food and drinks. In this day and age that behaviour is unacceptable That episode, along with the overpriced menu and small food portion sizes and that barman’s behaviour ultimately made my decision on the palace. Couple weeks later “the shack” came up in conversation with different friends suggesting places to eat; I shut it down. Funnily enough one of the people in the group said that they ordered food weeks earlier and the same guy was intimidating to her because she didn’t eat her food and was pushing for answers, she was hungover and explained nothing was wrong with it. Won’t be returning, and I’ll be telling others the same story.

18/07/2025: Great atmosphere, delicious food, great drinks, and friendly personable service. Wife and I visited Athlone from the UK and were so glad we came here for lunch, highly recommend.

15/06/2025: I'm new to Moate and ieat here regularly, mostly curry dishes , call and collect myself. I cannot fault anything I've eaten here over the past 2 months .

06/06/2025: I loved it. The Chicken schwarma kabob was probably the best I’ve ever had in my life, no joke. It was huge and really good. I shared with my wife. Get utinsils. My wife also liked it but felt it was too much sauce.
