The Dinky Takeaway

20/09/2026: I came back because the fish and chips used to be really good 10/10, but unfortunately, the quality has gone downhill over time. The fish was okay, but not as good as last time, and the chips tasted like they were cooked in old oil.
10/09/2026: Super busy but food was very hot and fresh and massive portions. We will definitely be back to try something else from the extensive menu

29/09/2026: Nice local pub serving delicious food. The staff were friendly and the decor was interesting! Good value lunch menu.
16/08/2026: For Europeans, be aware they eat early! The kitchen closes at 7 pm, but the bar stays open.
Otherwise, nice dishes, bistro style.

27/08/2026: Unimpressed. Very basic and overpriced sandwich-, sourdough but looked like sliced pan. No recycling-everything in the one bin. Outside seating area dingy and needs a really good power wash. Uncomfortable seats.
01/08/2026: Must be one of the most unfriendly places I’ve ever had to endure.
Being local we often go for walks with our dog and stop off to Ben & Nicola for a coffee, however no matter how many times. We’ve been there not even a thank you for your custom, a smile, a how are you today?
We now go to newly opened m& t coffee where our custom is much more appreciated and the atmosphere is much friendlier
That’s the good thing about competition, it’s healthy

24/10/2024: Very poor quality compared to what it once was. Reopened yesterday. 23rd October 2024, still can’t get an order right! And when I try to call the restaurant to make a complaint they don’t answer the phone!

28/09/2024: Amazing food. Best breakfast I've had all year. Big portions, high quality ingredients. Best cappachino in years. Friendly staff. We only discovered it, and it shuts tomorrow. It was great portions and I hope they re brand and try again because our whole group thought this was fantastic.
20/09/2024: Kept meaning to visit, I'm glad we finally did.
Tasty meals throughout our group of five.
Enjoyed the geekyness of the decor and identifying various characters.
..... added this bit some weeks after the above,.... We went back twice this week, exceptional service both times, both visits were lunchtime.
It is with deepest regret and a broken heart that I heard of the imminent closure of GEEK.
Having read some of the other reviews posted here, I can only add that there is a banging soundtrack playing in the background, I noticed several people on several tables singing along or tapping their feet.
GEEK, you will be missed.
