Good food. An outside table is great for people watching on the pedestrian street

We had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon and it was good! Fish and Chips were nice, Fish Tacos were a little dry though. The filling could have been more and the tortilla also seemed store bought. We also had Chicken and Mushroom Vol Au Vent which was really good. Overall a nice experience.

Good food and good ambiance, a bit expensive but not that much for Galway

M. Fitzgerald's Bar (formerly known as 1520 Bar) is a renowned traditional Irish pub located in the heart of Galway's Latin Quarter. Housed in a building over 700 years old, it is located directly beneath The Residence Hotel on bustling Quay Street. It is renowned for its welcoming atmosphere, live music sessions 7 days a week, and excellent pub food.

We had a wonderful evening at this pub, which we hadn't been to before. It was very busy and full, so we had to wait a little while. The staff went out of their way to find us a table. The service was quick and the food was very good (special mention for the famous fish taco). The waitress asked if everything was alright and if we needed anything. All the staff were friendly, the atmosphere was great, and the music was good. Thank you for your kindness. We will definitely be back.

The burger and seafood linguine are highly recommended. The live music is excellent. If you're coming for dinner, be aware that it gets quite loud near the musicians. The atmosphere is fantastic.

First, the good: The music was amazing, the food was amazing, the drinks were amazing, the bartender was amazing. Second: My husband and I were put in the snug, which was fine because we kind of liked the privacy and having room to ourselves anyway. Unfortunately, the snug is kind of off to the side of the pub where not many servers walk by and it’s hard to see them. We had to poke our head out of the hole by the bar and put in our drink and food order with the bartender. Everyone was fairly nice and our server was sweet and friendly when we saw her, but it took us maybe a half hour after we finished our food and second drink to get the server’s attention for the bill, and my husband had to walk out the door of the snug looking for her. My best guess is this was probably a fluke and this pub is usually fantastic. But because we were put in the snug on a busy night we had a hard time. I would not recommend the snug. Find a table elsewhere in the pub.

The bar enchanted us. The people, the live music, the atmosphere, the food, and the service were simply wonderful. Gemma, in particular, is a friendly, warm, and incredibly funny server who made our last evening in Galway so special. THANK YOU! Reservations are definitely recommended, or you might get very lucky :)

After having left The Quays across the street because the service was so bad, came here and loved it .. great menu. Super friendly and efficient service , thanks to Ruairi and better value than The Quays . Will come back .

Although the prices may seem high for Italian standards (as in every pub in Ireland), a Guinness and a sandwich that I would define as delicious, meat cooked to perfection, all accompanied by noteworthy chips, highly recommended.
