Aherne's in Youghal

Had Sunday lunch here under the new owners, the Finn's, and it was delicious. 6 of us went out, had lobster, lamb, haddock and chicken and all meals were really tasty and substantial. Special mention to the new potatoes that came with my lobster. We also had desserts and special mention to the baked Alaska which was a raspberry sorbet with Tunisian orange cake in a meringue. Lovely staff and service. Will very happily be back

A bit of a disappointment. The lobster was a very small portion. In looking at the photos on Google prior, we were let down. I do know new management has recently taken over. €13 for a glass of Riesling and I wasn’t even given a wine list. Initially ordered Sauvignon Blanc and was told they were out. My partner ordered two portions of the lobster as we saw the previous ones that came out. After a long wait it came out and was stone cold. We sent it back because at the price point it could at least be hot! The mussels were actually nice and flavorful, just a tad salty. We received bread as we were halfway through our mussels and the butter about 7 mins later. We visited on a Wednesday evening. For the price point, small portions and slow service I’d skip this restaurant. If these things were fixed then it would be worth it.

Nice food. Summer pudding for dessert— rare in England. Pleasant, very quiet (on a Sunday), staff helpful and jolly if not of the fastest! If it's a hotel, I saw no evidence of that.

Always a pleasure to stay here! Rooms are a tad dated but homely, cosy, and comfortable. The food is the standout here, from breakfast, to bar, to restaurant. Everything is thoughtfully considered and assembled, fish being the winner in the bar and restaurant!

Stayed in Ahernes recently for 3 nights. We couldn’t be happier with the very friendly welcome from David and the team. The food was excellent catering for a coeliac without any issues. The home made bread was ‘the best ever’….. thanks Anne!, we left with the recipe! A super location for a relaxing break.

Excellent food but on the pricey side. Staff very helpful and friendly.

All requests were taken into account. The atmosphere was pleasant. The music was a delightful accompaniment to our dinner. The staff was pleasant and friendly. Thank you for the warm atmosphere and Irish coffee.👌

Got a takeout dinner, brilliant service and quality. Was able to call ahead and give a collection time. Food was hot and fresh, with generous portions. Lovely treat for older people who can’t get out. Chowder was rich and loaded with fish highly recommended.
