First Class. If you are going or near Clonakilty you cannot miss An Sugan. As a group of 14 attending a Backgammon competition in Clonakilty, I booked An Sugan. We have been in An Sugan several times before and is never fails to deliver exceptional food and service. All 14 of us thououghly enjoyed the food and ambience of this restaraunt. We as a groupd had a variety of starters, main courses and deserts, every single person complimented the food. I am sorry In never got the waitress name but she was so professional and polite. Upon arrival we were greeted by Denis who is a legend. Many thanks for making our night an enjoyable and memotable night. Thank you so much.

I had the fish and chips, the fish was delicious, but the potatoes were disappointing. The empty oyster shell on the plate seemed like an odd decoration rather than an actual addition to the dish. The restaurant itself is nice, though the chairs are too elevated compared to the tables; the couch seating is much more comfortable. If you visit, go for the Portobello mushroom, it was the best dish I had, absolutely delicious. One downside was that the dishes didn’t arrive at the same time, which was a bit inconvenient. Given the price of the fish and chips, I wouldn’t return for that, but I’d consider trying the sole fish or beef cheek.

My partners family live in Cork and I vist most years and always have to come back to An Súgán. Lovely atmosphere and Dennis is a true host with amazing food (always have the Seafood chowder) and a beautiful area of Ireland. One of my favourite parts of coming over. Thank you again Dennis

An institution of Clonakilty, lovely cosy corners for a drink, and great menu for lunch or dinner. Crab claws always our favourite!

Would give a 4 star but. I got the steak which was nice but when I asked for the onion rings to be swapped with the ved wad told I would be charged the extra €6. If you look at menu a portion of onion rings is €5 where as the portion of veg is €6. So if the bar man who was asked about it would have said yes we can do that for an extra €1 it would have been fine. So a €33 steak went to €39. Needless to say I won't be back any time soon. 99.9% of places I have been all over our country would have taken the extra €1 or €2 to swap around one for the other.
Moral of the story don't go here thinking of some sort of flexibility with the pricing on the menu.

Lovely Irish traditional restaurant 💚! Food was delicious. We had soup and Prawns pil pil to start both gorgeous and seafood pie and salmon for mains! Stunning food, all hot and tasty. Well seasoned etc. Two kids with us and they shared babybowl and goujons & chips - all handmade not processed. I would just say gravy didnt come with the baby bowl but im sure if i asked they would have given some. Friendly and pleasant staff (and baby changing in ladies thankfully) all in all really beautiful meal and would definitely come back. Highly recommend.
