Fantastic experience. Food was amazing & staff were so friendly. Very relaxed environment for this type of restaurant which added to the atmosphere.

My wife and I had an absolutely exceptional experience. From the moment we arrived, everything was outstanding. The food was incredible—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every bite captured the true taste of the sea, and even the next day I could still remember and almost taste those amazing flavors. The drinks were just as impressive, perfectly crafted and a great complement to the meal.
The service was equally remarkable—attentive, welcoming, and genuinely warm without ever feeling intrusive. It’s rare to find a place where the food, drinks, and service are all this consistently excellent. I honestly couldn’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. An unforgettable and unbelievable experience from start to finish.

The menu is designed to give you some of the best locally sourced produce from the west of Ireland, presented with exceptional flair. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable about the food they served. The 24 course tasting menu is a culinary adventure. I am from South Africa and was so happy to chat in Afrikaans with Angus, one of the chefs. We have experienced some of the best restaurants in the world, and Aniar rates in my top 10 for sure. If you ever find yourself in Galway Ireland, you absolutely have to dine there.

The food, mood, service, and everything else you'd expect for a fine dining establishment was there. But nothing blew my socks off and it was a bit on the pricey side. The most noticeable thing for me was the service because everyone was so friendly and accommodating for me as I brought my 6 and 8 year kids to dinner. The chef spent a few minutes at each able to chat with the guests too. This is a great thing but also maybe not so great if it is more memorable than the food.

A very good restaurant but not a great Michelin star
The food is definitely very tasty and the usage of local product is brilliant, the different meals were a showcase of how tasty Irish ingredients are.
When we arrived we were asked if we wanted some champagne to start, which we accepted. The food started to arrive before we even received our glasses of Champagne, this was the first time in such a restaurant that I couldn't drink the cup of champagne in peace before food starts to be served
As soon as we finished a meal the next one appeared on our table, there was no time to breath or enjoy the atmosphere because there seems to be a rush to get the meal over
Once we arrived at the desert we could see the staff in the kitchen in their changed clothes waiting for us to leave which we felt invited to as the bill was given as soon as we finished eating. The waiter was also quite insistant in showing us the different tip option and looking at which one was chosen
Compared to the other Michelin star restaurants I've been to around the world, this one probably had the poorest service. Normally time seems to freeze as you enjoy incredible food, in Aniar time was definitely going and that spark which you usually find in such restaurant was missing.
It is a shame that such great food was served in the same atmosphere as my local pizza place
If you are used to Michelin star restaurant or if you are trying to have a once in a lifetime experience you should skip Aniar however if your goal is simply to taste the best West Ireland has to other without caring about the service then this is the place for you, just book early

International staff serve up local produce in this innovative and classy restaurant. The wine pairings are of particular note. This is the closest I've come to food and wine being perfectly matched. Whoever is responsible for it, your palate and ability to pair strikingly similar flavour notes is quite remarkable. The fitout is modern. The attitude, comforting. Aniar is well worth a visit to experience for yourself.

It's fortunate to have a great young Italian professional in the kitchen!!!
That said, not having an updated menu, not notifying the customer, and bringing all the wrong wines with the wrong labels and vintages is unacceptable!!! Embarrassing service—absolutely not for a starred restaurant!!!
And I've been to Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy and abroad, and I've never had such service and food...gourmet perhaps, but not Michelin-starred.
