International staff serve up local produce in this innovative and classy restaurant. The wine pairings are of particular note. This is the closest I've come to food and wine being perfectly matched. Whoever is responsible for it, your palate and ability to pair strikingly similar flavour notes is quite remarkable. The fitout is modern. The attitude, comforting. Aniar is well worth a visit to experience for yourself.

It's fortunate to have a great young Italian professional in the kitchen!!!
That said, not having an updated menu, not notifying the customer, and bringing all the wrong wines with the wrong labels and vintages is unacceptable!!! Embarrassing service—absolutely not for a starred restaurant!!!
And I've been to Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy and abroad, and I've never had such service and food...gourmet perhaps, but not Michelin-starred.

We had a wonderful dinner at Aniar. The service was very thoughtful and friendly and the food was delicious. The night we dined, we had 24 courses and they were all delicious and celebrated Irish food and produce. The food was always beautifully presented and the staff gave wonderful explanations of the food. We got lucky and happened to be dining when Chef JP was working so he actually served us some of our dishes and chatted with us at the end of the meal. He was super friendly and we really appreciated the time he spent talking to us. He also recommended his other two more causal restaurants: Cava Bodega and Kombu.
Although we had so many courses which featured a lot of fresh seafood like langoustines, oysters, shrimp, smoked salmon, and mackerel, some highlights include:
Irish brown bread with 3 different seeds served with butter
A potato dish with spelt, mushroom ragu, topped with potato foam and potato skin tuile served with potato bread
Oyster ice cream served in an edible tempura shell
Duck with beets & grilled duck heart
Aerated blue cheese & fig jam
Blackberry sorbet with pickled blackberries
The final dessert was a really unique collection of petit fours and I really enjoyed the pate de fruit (apple), torched lavender marshmallow, and miso fudge. We were also sent home with some oat cookies too.
The Michelin star is well earned. Definitely come here to enjoy some fine dining in Galway.

Good dinner in a tiny restaurant where everything is prepared with Irish ingredients. Tasting menu to travel through the tastes of West Ireland with Irish drink pairing. Crab, fish, duck, tomatoes, mash potatoes with mushrooms, see weeds, cheese with a fig, forest strawberry dessert, ice apple wine and so much more. However, the service is too intrusive and feels too commercial so we liked the food but not really the overall atmosphere. I don’t think I would go again

I went to Aniar to celebrate a milestone birthday. It was my second visit to Galway and I had heard about the restaurant before. I am an experienced foodie, but this was my first Michelin restaurant. It was Amazing!!! The ambiance was relaxing and the details were exquisitely attended to. Every dish was accompanied by custom plateware that enhanced the senses. The 24 dishes were each individual works of culinary art that left you yearning for more. Chef McMahon visited each table and when learning it was my birthday gave me an autographed copy of his beautiful book which is an ode to Irish cuisine. Thank you to the entire staff for this crowning moment of my birthday week celebration!!!!
