Brian Boru on the Hill in Ballina

Our favorite pub in Ballina — and not just for the Guinness. Brian Boru is a locals’ favorite with some of the best pub food we’ve had in Ireland. The seafood chowder with brown bread, bangers and mash, chicken bacon Caesar, and chicken vol-au-vent were all outstanding. Michael, the owner, and Klyde, the barman, are extraordinarily welcoming (even by Irish standards), and the regulars are as interesting as they are interested in you. We visited often and can’t recommend it enough.

Perfect for a casual meal or a special occasion. Great vibes and even better food.

Loved it, atmosphere, food, company all great. Went in knowing no one, came out knowing everyone. A must visit.

Really lovely food. We had the steak sandwich and the pork belly. Big portions and very tasty. Excellent service also, very friendly staff.
