The Lakeside Hotel and Leisure Centre

28/05/2026: We had an excellent stay here at the Lakeside Hotel. Unfortunately due to a storm and subsequent power cut, the hotel were having an IT issue and couldn’t check us in immediately. Staff on the desk were very apologetic, and we were offered free drinks while we waited. Due to the delay, we were offered a free upgrade of room.
I mostly say this to outline how the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was not affected by an IT issue that was no fault of their own.
On top of that, the hotel has gorgeous facilities, lovely rooms, and breakfast was perfect, with everything you could want. I wouldn’t think twice to stay here again. 5/5 stars!

29/04/2026: waited a good 10 minutes to be seated , it was busy but not over busy , staff walked past ourselves and another couple and dissappeared into the bar .
when we were seated and given a menu the choices offered were not to our taste or palatte , a lot of the dishes were served in spicey piri piri or other ' asian theamed' sauces ,all very nice if you are in india or sri lanka but this is IRELAND and there was a lack of TRADITIONAL IRISH FOOD on offer !
a lot of the offerings here are exactly the same or very very similar to a lot of OTHER establishments in ireland these days which in my experiance points toward dishes being ' bought in pre prepared' rather than made on the premisis .
in the end after veiwing the menu and waiting to be served we decided to go elsewhere and left .

19/08/2025: We had lunch in the his bar and found it average at best, we were upstairs over looking the bridge, the view was good but the seating was old, with damaged tember and very uncomfortable, this bar/restaurant would need to take advantage of their location and give the place a well needed makeover.
The staff were very friendly and the food was fresh.

13/07/2025: Staff have a lot to learn in terms of customer service .
Also cleanliness of the glasses and cutlery left alot to be desired. I picked up 5 glasses before I got one that was reasonable clean. I opted to drink from the bottle instead.
Cutlery was wet or had water marks on it and hadn't been polished.
These are basic things.
Food was OK but its just microwavable food.

23/03/2026: Food not good, waitress not good at her job, she took the order for food then went off without asking if I wanted a drink,
Food arrived waitress went off then I realised there was no salt of ketchup on the table, had to go look for the waitress to ask for salt etc, not very friendly,
