The Lakeside Hotel and Leisure Centre

28/05/2026: We had an excellent stay here at the Lakeside Hotel. Unfortunately due to a storm and subsequent power cut, the hotel were having an IT issue and couldn’t check us in immediately. Staff on the desk were very apologetic, and we were offered free drinks while we waited. Due to the delay, we were offered a free upgrade of room.
I mostly say this to outline how the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was not affected by an IT issue that was no fault of their own.
On top of that, the hotel has gorgeous facilities, lovely rooms, and breakfast was perfect, with everything you could want. I wouldn’t think twice to stay here again. 5/5 stars!

31/05/2026: Pubs worth visiting! Staff are efficient and friendly and prices are reasonable. We happened to visit during a trad session during the music festival. There was a fab buzz about!

04/08/2026: Amazing view of Lough Derg. Fast and friendly service. Ample options and some are on the upper 20 euro limit while burgers are pizza are in and around 18. Nice vibe on a warm sunny day sitting outside. The interior is well maintained, the toilets do not offer sanitary products.
28/07/2026: Went here today with my wife, baby and parents in law. Sat down and waited for about 15 mins for staff to give us a menu, or to even acknowledge us. The place wasn't even half full so wasn't like it was too busy.. One waitress left water and glasses at the table but said nothing and left and never came back again..
There were 3 or 4 gomey looking waiters and waitresses walking around, and they saw us several times but never attended us..
After 10 mins my wife wanted to get up and go over to one of the waiters to ask but i told her don't bother, they should come to us. We gave them another couple of minutes and still nothing so we packed up and left..
Staff here need training, and if the waiters are this bad at their job, imagine the chefs.

11/06/2026: I lived in this town for a few months. These people were so kind and generous and made me feel at home every time I had to work late and needed an easy (but delicious and cheap) dinner. A real asset to a town full of rich boaties. Thank you Veronika!

19/08/2025: We had lunch in the his bar and found it average at best, we were upstairs over looking the bridge, the view was good but the seating was old, with damaged tember and very uncomfortable, this bar/restaurant would need to take advantage of their location and give the place a well needed makeover.
The staff were very friendly and the food was fresh.

13/07/2025: Staff have a lot to learn in terms of customer service .
Also cleanliness of the glasses and cutlery left alot to be desired. I picked up 5 glasses before I got one that was reasonable clean. I opted to drink from the bottle instead.
Cutlery was wet or had water marks on it and hadn't been polished.
These are basic things.
Food was OK but its just microwavable food.

23/03/2026: Food not good, waitress not good at her job, she took the order for food then went off without asking if I wanted a drink,
Food arrived waitress went off then I realised there was no salt of ketchup on the table, had to go look for the waitress to ask for salt etc, not very friendly,
