We dropped in for a few drinks on a Saturday evening. The bar was busy but not too busy, we just about got a seat. A female singer started playing about half an hour after we arrived and I must say she was very good. She sang a good variety of songs and the volume was just perfect. You could still have a conversation without having to shout at each other like in a lot of bars. The atmosphere in the bar was good and service too. As far as Carlingford goes this is one of the few bars you can go to on a Saturday evening without having to put up with crowds of youngsters and banging music. I definitely recommend this bar for a nice drink and a bit of light entertainment at the weekend. I can't comment on the food in the restaurant yet but I will definitely be back to try out the steak night offer they have advertised for a Friday night.

My death row meal came to me in a cold sweaty hallucination last evening as the late summer sun set on the well heeled lakeside Carlingford.
Perfection, but yet so much more. A level of detail only comparable to that woven into the Bayeax Tapestry.
My seafood chowder was rich and soulful, like a warm hug in an Aran sweater. The sirloin steak tasted as good as it looked, the style and substance akin to Paolo Maldini in his prime. Supplemented and complemented with sides of thrice cooked fries and a vast expanse of peppercorn sauce.
The Chef's passion seeped through the kitchen doors and throughout the magnificent late 20th century dining room.
Standards were set by the vivacious Maitre D and willingly met by her dashing floor staff, their neon neck ties perfectly reflecting their smiles.
On this occasion of great matrimonial excitement, the Carlingford Arms tied us in knots of pleasure.

We had a brilliant dinner here 2 weeks ago as a family of 7, the food came pipping hot staff were very pleasant couldn't do enough definitely a place to go back too, we went back today just 3 of us, I really wished we hadn't bothered, we waited half an hour on food which when it came was barely warm, we were given a bowl of veg between 3 of us last time it was a bowl of veg between 2 Yorkshire pudding was tiny and definitely not made from scratch , they were the first time we went cos they were soft and massive, my son wouldn't eat is ham cos it was so dried up, the staff had time to chat to other customers but not us, not even to ask us was everything ok, and other customers came in and had their food way before us and there was 4 adults and 2 children, my husband said we have been forgotten about and I think we had with the food been luke warm, and another customer got his dinner and a bowl of veg to himself. Don't understand this , not a consistent place and staff not friendly the owner friendly the first time we went but never spoke at all this place, definitely will not go back .
