We visited in November the food was lovely with exception of chips which were very bad, there were like boiled potatos with one lucky properly fried one chip.
I ate cezar salad which was ok
Lamb shoulder which was delicious
And chocolate musse which was nice but was to much crumble pieces for me and not enough of musse.
My husband had beef carpaccio ( i hope i spelled that right) which was ok
He had duck leg which was the most delicious duck we ever ate, and he had sticky toffee pudding which he said that was the best he ever has and he enjoyed the pudding a lot.
The atmosphere was nice.
Service was interesting......
As we entered we were seated in a bar area at the tiny table and we were given a menus and as we are there first time we were thinking thats it, thats the place, and we were puzzled how the plates will fit on those tiny tables -no one from staff mentioned that is the waiting area and we will be seated elswere later. . First time there we knew nothing about the place.
About 10minutes later we were told that out table is ready and we were shown to bigger dinning room.
The place was nice and clean.
We were served by 2 different people which which from we got totally oposite vibes from.
The lady in her 50s with no smile, with no hapiness that she did not like to be there. Not very welcoming, kind like she was in pain or something.
At the end i believed that she was going to ask us if the food was ok but instead she said " the food was ok, right?" and she didnt wait for an answer from us, she just asked and answered her own question.
On the other hand the male server in his 50s or 60s was a delight, smile, beautiful happy energy radiating from him. Very welcoming. After we paid our bill, my husband went to use a restroom and i waited in the hallway and this nice waiter noticed me waiting there and he bring me a chair to seat. Outstanding manners.
We will return for sure

Chez Hans is a joy of a restaurant- Delicious cooking- our go to with foodie friends-quintessentially Irish-local-friendly-with a quality of cooking that stands up to the best. The fish is excellent, the care with vegetables, what can I say, it is where I brought my children to give them a joy of food, of gathering. 10/10, one of the finest restaurant experiences in Ireland. We have brought some groups of friends here who have never been before, and they have all been blown away.
The experience starts in the bar with pre-dinner drinks and top class service from the No.1 barman, Seamie. Such a great character and sets the tone for any great evening.
Our meal was fab, from starters to deserts. Everything was delightful and served with an abundance of professionalism and friendliness. The staff here are very well trained in hospitality and you can easily see the difference.
We will return here, again and again. Well done team Hans, keep up the great work 👏

We drove an hour to Chez Hans because the food is that good. The Sunday lunch was fantastic—each dish beautifully presented, full of fresh, seasonal flavors and great textures. The quality really shines through, and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back for this memorable meal. My all time favourite is the beef ribs :)

Fantastic!! Worthy of a Michelin star! They once had a star, but gave it back. Never had such delicious rack of lamb! The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Worth the detour!! Beautiful location in a sort of old church built in the late 1800s. Modern and religious art hangs intertwined on the walls.

Wow! Five stars all around. Dinner and dessert options were fantastic. I recommend the lamb and the sticky toffee pudding. Both were so good. Environment is obviously amazing as well! I would come back here.

Obviously, the atmosphere, being a former church, is without rivals.
And as you can expect, the staff is great at everything they do.
But honestly? we return here time after time for the food.
This may just be the best restaurant we've eaten at in Ireland, and it fully deserves the reputation it has.
Everything, from the drinks, to the bread, to the starters, to the mains, to the deserts, is top quality and leaves you wanting for more.
In conclusion: highly recommended.
*While the menu changes over time, we've found that the sticky toffee pudding is always on the menu, and it is superb.
