While hiking on the island, we stopped for a drink before getting back on the boat. What a wonderful hot chocolate! I'm still dreaming about it! The young women serving were smiling, pleasant, and kind! It was perfect!

There are limited food choices on the island, but that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The Hake here was perfectly cooked and the flavor was unbeatable. Juicy Goujons, and a surprising variety of options. Honestly, I would have been happy to make this our destination. And the Pirate Snack Shack just down the road is an absolute delight as well!

My wife and I visited Clare Island in May 2026. My wife loves Gracelyn O'malley so naturally we had to come to the island while we were in Ireland. This was one of the highlights of our visit!! The food at the Anchor Bar & Bistro was nothing short of FANTASTIC!! I have never had seafood chowder that had so much variety and tasted so great. All of the food and drinks we had there were top-notch, second to none! We had a GREAT time on Clare Island and hope to get back there some day.

Charming place with a reasonable menu selection nice little bar area, with some outside seating and mist importantly public toilets, worth a visit to sit and relax at.
