Welcome to humanity
Welcome to the Republic of Ireland.
It was one September day, many years ago I left for university.... to be continued, thank you🔆
Ms. Mary Sisk, our kind hostess from Togher, welcomed me into her womb, bosom buddies. Hail the Mother of God. I was the sole Asian, and among the tenants, the sole male. My life flourished in dreams. I had the pick of the lot Karen, Hazel and, Michelle. Ms. Sisk had a sprawling two storey fantasy. I lived with a family in a house, that is. And, there were others(students, teachers), renting, too.
The central applications office website opened vistas like not ever before. After bailing out from Denmark's spell check riddled international education, being a mature student, with no secondary education certification, was indeed a unique provision for budding aspirants, seen around the world. Little did I reckon a chance meeting with Bono (Dublin) himself, walks in the buff in Waterford and even a stint teaching Irish nursing students about life in Denmark(for pocket money)... My first ever year in university encompasses all this and, much more. Buckle up, dear readers... life beckons. ♥️
The first week had this relishing intro trip to the Muckross house and nearby lake(lough).
My heart fell for Fiona, Gemma and, a third butterfly. On the flip side, some five hearts intended to court me. đź’•đź’•
Irish punters? I had no idea. This one I had to check out. God is kind

University College Cork, nestled along the picturesque College Rd, is frequently highlighted in my social and professional circles as a global pioneer in sustainability, famously holding the distinction of being the world’s first "Green Flag" university. From numerous insightful conversations with researchers and alumni, it is merytorically clear that UCC offers a high-caliber environment that my acquaintances consistently praise for its world-class excellence in food science, law, and medicine. It is truly impressive to witness how the institution maintains a transparent and respectful dedication to its "Independent Thinking" ethos, a quality that many people I know personally identify as the reason for the university’s exceptional ability to produce socially responsible and highly employable graduates. The campus itself is a sophisticated synthesis of historic limestone beauty and modern, eco-friendly infrastructure, proving that the university excels in preserving its rich 1845 heritage while leading the charge in 21st-century environmental research. The institution's relentless commitment to community health and the "Blue Economy" is frequently reflected in the success stories shared by my peers, who often mention the unique advantage of studying at a university so deeply rooted in the cultural and economic life of Munster. In the collective view of informed observers, UCC stands as a premier pillar of Irish higher education, rightfully respected for its elegant ability to merge rigorous academic traditions with an authentic, future-oriented mission. Ultimately, this institution remains a vital and forward-thinking cornerstone of the global academic community, offering a transformative journey that is as substantively rich as it is ethically grounded.

Visiting it from a Spanish tourist's perspective is, above all, an experience that combines heritage and everyday life. It preserves facades and courtyards that invite you to stroll leisurely and take photos without rushing. Getting there from Cork city center is easy; in about 10–15 minutes on foot you'll be at the main entrance, making it a convenient stop on a city tour.
What surprised me most was the mix of history and vibrant life: students everywhere, cafes with queues, and small university shops that add color to the experience. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and setting aside at least an hour so you don't feel rushed.
If you're interested in history and art, Honan Chapel and some Victorian buildings are worth paying attention for their architectural detail and intimate atmosphere. There are also some information panels that help you better understand the evolution of the university and its collections.
Bring a camera, some cash in case you want to buy souvenirs, and enough time to wander around at your own pace. Avoid peak class times if you're looking for clearer photos. If you go on the weekend, the atmosphere is more relaxed.
